Bodybuilding brothers Justin and Jonathan DeProspo are being sentenced this month for their role in distributing anabolic steroids and human growth hormone manufactured by British Dragon and IP aka International Pharmaceuticals (”Brothers receiving prison sentences for steroid distribution,” May 20).

According to court documents, their case was apparently part of a larger ongoing investigation of the “British Dragon Anabolic Steroid Manufacturing and Distribution Organization” by federal investigators. Clearly, the recently arrested founder of British Dragon has been on the steroid most wanted list for some time.

The New England Field Division, Financial Investigation Team (NEFD FIT) is currently conducting an investigation into an international steroid manufacturing, importing and money laundering organization operating from Thailand, Austria, Moldova, The Peoples Republic of China (PRC), the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Greece, Canada and other countries. This organization is referred to as the BRITISH DRAGON ANABOLIC STEROID MANUFACTURING AND DISTRIBUTION ORGANIZATION.

The DEA-Boston investigation centers on the importation of BRITISH DRAGON brand steroids into the United States by a series of manufacturers, wholesalers and repackagers/shippers based in the above-mentioned foreign countries.

All of the following information is a matter of public record and entered into evidence by federal authorities.

Court documents reveal that the DeProspo brothers claimed to have purchased over $100,000 in anabolic steroids primarily British Dragon from Alin at [email protected] in Moldova and IP at [email protected] in China. (Federal investigators have documented over $40,000 in transfers.) They transferred funds via Western Union to various recipients including “Matt Vanalst,” “Stela Batin,” “Stubei Ala,” and “Stubei Galina” in Moldova and “Xioming Yang Yang” and “Goucheng Jiang” in China.

DeProspo admitted to successfully having about 150 steroid shipments sent to his parents home and subsequently had them delivered to his college post office box and various UPS Store private mail boxes.

The case against the DeProspo brothers was made using video surveillance, public records, telephone records, pen register and trap and trace information, and search warrants on various email addresses used by defendants including [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected].

The federal government has devoted significant resources in their investigation of illegal steroid possession and distribution even if major cases are only sentenced to probation or a year/day or less jail time as is the case with the DeProspos.

To add to your statistics the United States accounts for approx 5% of the worlds population and yet has 20% of the worlds incarcerated population.

The truth of it is, where there is money there are busts.

I have a friend who was busted in operation raw deal and who is a very respected member of this board and he is facing a similar situation. He told me that is laywer (Rick Collins firm) said that a majority of the people they are helping are getting sentences like this. a year and a day in jail so that equates to about 10 months with good behavior. Even less if they enter a drug treatment program.


Seems like those who were busted dealing are getting respectable sentences ranging from 6 months house arrest to 1 year. My friend has a 23 on the guidelines and is facing 4 years minimum but hopefully Rick and his firm can get that taken down to less.


Goes to show you though that these judges are being generous to our community. This guy got a year and a day, MikeS got 6 months house arrest, Dave Palumbo got 5 months in jail. Nothing major. Hopefully it stays that way

I also wonder how this will affect ALIN now since he was narced out? Hopefully he doesnt take this with a grain of salt. Same with IP. They are after everybody. Going underground, way underground would be something I would consider since this article came out.

Im about juice as much as the next guy but lets face it we have seen some lethal chemicals come from China and other countries that we thought were safe. I remember the news last year where a re seller of pharmaceutical got materials from China and found out it was poison of some sort. The chemical was about to go into prescription cough syrup, led on dolls.

I defiantly think the Government is going after juice for the wrong reasons, but to be honest the US has much better quality control then other Countries.

Don’t mean to be a stick in the mud but they do have good reasons to keep foreign drugs out of our hands other than wanting us to be small.

It would be nice if the Feds put this type of effort into the real drugs. Like cocaine, heroin. etc. But instead they want to show the country that they are doing there part by going after easy targets. What a waste of time and money. I hope Canada doesn't go this route.

these cases are not even close to new..

i would like to see a lot of the documents after they are made avail..

when i was questioned.. mind you this was years ago when i used to play with testy, leroy, DB and train...

they knew everyone and everything.. they only needed small pieces of info.. i was arrested for a violent felony and providing info on drugs would not even get me any favor... not like i would anyhow but they didnt know i knew it would have been moot to help...

in all honesty, it was quite scary how much they knew.. they even knew code words and what they meant.... i remember thinkin, WTF ?

these cases are years long, they learned valuable lessons busting coke cartels in the 80's.. they let the crimes continue for a long time and build a solid case..
