I have an issue with insulin sensitivity so over the course of time and with my last contest diet I came to the conclusion that these types of choices worked best for me. I'm not blessed with a fast metablism and have rather crappy genetics so this has done it for me.
Higher fat protein sources with fiberous green veggies....so.....
Salmon/broccoli or green beans
Steak/ broccoli or asparagus ect
Lower fat protein sources with slow burning types of carbs
egg whites/oatmeal
chicken breast/brown rice or yams
turkey breast/brown rice or yams
cod or orange roughy with BR
I also only eat a higher fat protein with a carb source post training for that meal only. Other than that, they are all split apart as I mentioned. Sometimes I use Udos oil and balsalmic vinegar as a dressing for my fish and I put that on top of a bed of greens. Plain and boring I know...but in order to stay leaner in the off season this is what I have to do. I dont follow that to a tee like a should but the best results for me will come with a diet as I mentioned.
