As a former chef, I love to see all types of food pics. From artistic fine dining plates made with extreme precision of flavor profiles to a basic guy’s grilled cheese. Food is nonverbal communication and an exchange of culture beyond borders. It connects us all and stirs up nostalgic memories

9 times out of 10 they're posting a cheat meal just for the cognitive dissonance and mystery (to civilians) of looking so good but eating shit foods. A shredded bodybuilder about to down 4 burgers and 4 large fries gets a lot more attention than a shredded bodybuilder eating another serving of chicken and rice.

This is a good post and makes sense! I can understand this point of view

it wasn't meant to get "food porn" more so talk about how it even became a thing?

Before the internet did people look at tasty food in magazines? The whole concept seems odd like its a trend and I haven't seen it outside the fitness. Like people that eat what they want and don't diet I don't see them partaking in "food porn" and sharing images of their food with others and getting compliments on it.

IMO food is mean't to be ate, you cook it, you eat it, you cook more eat more, never thought to take a pic of something that I just made to make disappear in my stomach.

Lmao, wanted to say the same. Food is life, for me, how could you NOT enjoy looking at food porn?! It gives me ideas and inspiration to improve my own cooking. I almost envy folks who are very clinical with food and simply see it as basic nutrition, a means to an end. My body fat percentage would be much lower, surely. My father taught me how to cook, and his father taught him, so I suppose there's a family thing in there, as well...

Lol good point. Not so much that it annoys me, I almost look at it like this..

I love food, as much as anyone. I don't want to see it but want to eat it. It makes me want to eat and I'm not someone that struggles to get in calories I have to limit them to achieve my goals.

Porn is similar where people look at things we can't have but people can jerk off to it, or access sex when they want to. With the food you can replicate it but it has consequences.

If I had a 9000 calorie cheat day I may enjoy it but probably not, I'd just focus on my own eating.

I do like to look at tattoos and art, tattoos because I have room for a few more. But say I was covered and couldn't fit any more ink, I'd probably not want to look at tattoos if that makes sense

Japanese TV has so much food porn it's exhausting. Endless closeups of moist, steaming, jiggling food. No, not the adult videos, just food.

I think at least 50% of all TV shows here have a strong food element to them. From gourmet competitions to eating contests.

I was in Maine 5 years ago lobster lobster rolls I forget the price $5 or $12 I remember thinking dam if they only knew the markup in Cali

I know on the pier I was paying like $10 for live lobster they would cook for you
