For fellas who have gym equipment such as cable crossovers or anything that slides on rails.... what do you guys use to keep em "slick".... for example, got a bad ass cable crossover but they feel "rough" when using.... doesn't slide freely...I figured there has to be something specifically for that but cant seem to find.... WD40???

► use "brake cleaner" to clean the previous build-up off the guide rods
(..it doesn't leave a residue after it evaporates)

► get a quality silicone spray ..apply liberally ..work the cables a lil

..done

PS: ..if it still stick ►then check the rods to see if they are "true"
.

^^^dam it ..ran out of EDIT time
PS: ..if it still stick ►then check the rods to see if they are "true".

..then check the bearings on the pullies

..finally if it STILL not sliding ►then check to see that you haven't inserted the pin too low on the weight stack 🙃

.

Like others have said, silicone spray. It should be smooth after that. If not, it's another issue. First I use a microfiber cloth to get any dust or particles off, then use the silicone spray.

Usually silicone spray..recently yetted a gallons worth of rotella T6 oil at my brother in law and missed and it exploded all over my mono lift..smooth as shit now

I don’t know about sliding rails, but as far as pulleys, just buy good quality ones, not the cheap crap sold on Amazon for home gym rope pulleys, and they’ll work great. Look for sealed ball bearings.

Don’t add any wet type lubricants to anything that’s not sliding well - it will only attract more dust and make matters worse.

I use a combination of Super Lube Multi-Purpose synthetic oil and silicone oil on all my equipment with guide rods.

Following … I’ve been using a silicone lubricant (non spray) for my guide rods. I’ve never been a fan of the residue it leaves behind on the rods.

I clean with wd 40 then rub down with silicone. Don’t overdo it or it will start pulling moisture from the air and rusting.
