Before I throw this friggin' computer out the window I need some help. This prompt "This program has performed an illegal action and will be shut down" keeps popping up while I'm surfing the boards. I have to restart the whole computer to be able to continue clicking around. Is ther any way to disable this function? Thanks for any help or it's curtains for it seee?

Try system restore. go to a date before this started and use that date as a restore point.

Could you give me a step by step? I'm completely ignorant when it come to computers. LOL!

Sounds like possibly spyware or some sort of virus/worm/trojan. Does it reference a memory address? First I would download ad-aware and spybot. Run those 2 first and then get yourself a antivirus program and update the definitions before running the full scan on your computer. You can run a system restore all day long and it will not get rid of a virus if you have one.

OR

You could be trying to run a program that is incompatible with your Operating System. The message that you are getting is a common one with incompatibility issues. I have also seen that message with flaky memory dimms. Usually the message also includes the memory address' that the program was trying to access. A couple of questions for ya:

Did you just install a program? Right-Click your taskbar and choose task manager. Next choose processes. Post the list of programs you have running and we can see if any look suspicious.

Hope this helps

..

if you want.. and if you have high speed internet...

i can take control of your computer remotely and fix the problem through the internet...

or attempt to fix the problem....

pm me.

quick fix

i get the same problem, the message appears as soon as i open internet explorer. go into the task manager and end all the processes that say .exe, including explorer. then restart explorer and problem should be fixed temporarily until spyware becomes active again. if problem isnt solved by ending processes then just drag the message to the corner and ignore it and you should be able to surf freely.

Its your wobbler shaft bro. You need to remove and machine 0.10" off your connector bearing and reinstall. J/K :)

Seriously bro, I have no clue. I'm just messing with ya:) Sometimes a System Restore will help. It's sounds to me like spyware/adware or a virus of some sort. When you get your system back working correctly, do yourself a favor an update all your Anti Virus programs.
