For those who compete (bodybuilding)

For those of you who compete in bodybuilding....I know this sport is not so much about competing with others but more so about competing with yourself...but have you ever really wanted to dominate someone in particular on the stage? Has there ever been a fellow competitor whom you really wanted to just totally mop the floor with? And if so, did it drive you to put in more effort than you would have otherwise?

The reason i ask is i feel that way about someone. Dont get me wrong, this person has my respect and i would never treat them in a negative manner. But this person....the way he carries himself, the constant socializing between sets, the cheesy gym related Facebook statuses, the "Hollywood" mindset, those stupid freaking vibrams 5 toe shoes.....I just wanna annhilate this guy on stage.

If only I can get him to move from physique to bodybuilding...

If that day comes, regardless of what happens, at the end of the day I will shake his hand. But until then...

obsessing much?

it just sounds like youre jealous.

the best you can do in this situation......is do the best you can

I want to win but I don't even pay attention to who is even in my category. All I can bring is my best package and hopefully its better than he other guys

I feel like people who say they compete against themselves are narcissists. Bullshit I want to embarrass everyone I compete against and be like why did you even bother showing up.

Its me Then everyone else. If you want to compete with yourself flex in the mirror at home and jerkoff to your self

Put those thoughts into pushing out more muscle annihilating reps!

this guy who you're talking shit about on the internet..

he doesn't even know that you exist.

let that sink in for a moment

Dude, I've been there....There was another superheavy I saw on FB who was doing the State Championships, and to be honest I was intimidated...he was like 250 and grainy as shit at his last comp where he blew everyone away....I even watched videos of him and went to his website where his goal was to be MrOlympia.........well....that drove me to get in the best shape of my life and diet to the extreme...I knew I could not outsize him so I outdieted him and out suffered him....I had deep cuts and it was my all time best look.................well............he wiped the stage with me and made me look like an anorexic school girl............but the lesson here is..................no actually I did beat him because I was extremely lean.....the motivation was the difference.

this ! Use whatever energy your pulling from this individual to push yourself to new extremes. If you work harder for longer and dedicate yourself fully to your purpose your far more likely to succeed. Irrespective of the final outcome you are stronger and learned from your determination.

Jizzmo, believe me when i say theres no jealousy here. I just dont like his style. We are simply polar opposites.

Queefer and asteelz, thanks for the positive message. Thats been the exact senario from day one. Its much like Arnold and Louie. When Im in the gym and im really reaching to get one or two last reps, im thinking to myself "remember, he may be training twice as hard." Theres nothing wrong with friendly rivalry...as long as it stays friendly.

As i said, we're polar opposites. He went to college, i went to work. He thrives on making social connections between sets, i thrive on keeping my mind in my workout. I dont like his style, but i respect anyone whos got the balls to chase their dreams because most people dont.

Thanks again for the positive replies. I was just curious is anyone else here has ever felt like this. Surely im not the only one.

I'm currently 5 days out, and have reached into many aspects of my psyche to extract motivation. Energy is energy , positive, negative , it's all the same. How and where you use it determines the outcome. Best of luck to you brother.

Pfffft.. Op's situation is nothing like Queefer's experience.

Queef saw a guy who was huge and ripped - someone who seemed like an insurmountable foe. He set out to beat him for the purpose of personal growth and accomplishment, "If I put my mind to it and apply myself, I know I can beat him". There was nothing personal about it... it was a story of overcoming the odds through perseverance.

Op just sees a guy who is happier than him, more likable, and more sociable. Since Op is in bodybuilding and his "adversary" is in physique, im sure Op is already bigger and leaner.. in which case, there really is no competition, no struggle or achievement to be had.

He wants to beat the guy simply to embarrass him.. I mean shit, they don't even compete in the same class..

Op, why would you come here talking about wanting to beat a guy who you will never see onstage? does it make you feel better?

focus on your own shit..
