Fructose and liver glycogen

Yeah man, I eat about half a kilo of them every 'carb breakfast', absolutely delicious and I never get tired of them. Very rich though

Half a kilo :D That's over 330g sugar. You don't have any toilet issues eating that many? Although I bet your physique comes to life after eating that. I have to really try hard not to eat them as they are so easy to go overboard with. I usually limit myself to 3 at a time now. Even with slin I will have about 3 as a "booster" then I drink my intra shake slowly. I also like to use bananas as well in a similar way (or combined with the dates). I noticed in Kuwait they now do date flavoured whey protein which I will have to try.

QUOTE=Biggerp73;2770642]Fructose goes first to liver glycogen but once liver glycogen is full excess fructose will convert and go to muscle glycogen. Besides, liver glycogen is extremely beneficial for a wide variety of metabolic/anabolic functions, and as someone already stated, most fruit (and most types of sugar) are around 50% glucose 50% fructose.[/QUOTE]

What I have always read is that once the livers glycogen levels are full that excess fructose is converted to fat. Is there new studies to show that doesn't happen?

Eating that many isn't the smartest idea if you have to be out and about but yeah they tend to wreck a gut.

But I'm able to do it no problem and I want to be sure I'm getting all the fructose my liver needs hence the purpose of this thread.

I don't notice much difference if i have small amounts of fructose then move onto other forms of sugar to tell the truth, but it'd be great to get a definite answer somewhere.

What its the need to recharge liver glycogen? If you do not eat fruits, it will not be recharged from other sources?

Yeah I actually had a similar question a few months ago, you can search the forum and find the thread, it's filled with good info.

"Under one percent of ingested fructose is directly converted to plasma triglyceride.[2] 29% - 54% of fructose is converted in liver to glucose, and about a quarter of fructose is converted to lactate. 15% - 18% is converted to glycogen.[3] Glucose and lactate are then used normally as energy to fuel cells all over the body.[2]"
