Aloha brother's,

Just grilled up some chicken on the GFG. Quick, efficient and damn tasty. I resisted using it for years. Now it's my method of choice.

What do you guys think? Great invention or what?

V

If I don't feel like firing up the bbq this is the next best thing for me

I use it all the time!!!

I have the original oval shaped one, it doesn't even have a on switch. You just plug it in and when the light turns off it is at maximum temp. I could cook a couple of pounds of Trader Joe's Organic Chicken strips in 2 minutes.
My wife bought me the "New" model with the removable plates, timer and temperature control. I like the fact you can remove the plates for easy cleaning but it take 10 minutes to cook the same amount of chicken as the old one. When I'm cooking 6 pounds of chicken that's substantial increase in time. I can't go back to using my old one without hurting my wife's feelings.

Oh well it still is the best/fastest/most efficient way to prepare my chicken!

One of the best inventions ever!!....

Second best invention, right behind the microwave. I haven't used ours much since we've been married but when I was single I about ran mine into it's grave. Poor thing.

I use mine all the time it is the extra large one and I can put a lot on it to cook.

I have three of them just in case the thermostat goes out. I like to have backups lol. Craiglist is a good place to find them. I bought two for about 35 bucks each and they were practically brand new. :p

My aunt and uncle gave me one of the originals for Christmas when they first came out. I used to use it all the time in my bachelor/apartment days. It works awesome but you can overcook things pretty quick if you don't pay attention

I used one in a small one bedroom apartment. After around 4 months of grilling 10 lbs of chicken a week and 5 lbs of fish, my ENTIRE apartment smelled like food. Even my clothes had a food smell to them. I had to stop lol.

I use to have one years ago and loved it.After reading this Thread I am going to make it a point to get another one!

We use ours almost everyday, lately my wife is saying the coating could be toxic. After so long it starts to peel and she freaks so we buy another one I think its Teflon use to be anyway who knows these days..

I use mine so often I've had 3 in the last 3 years.

You're all throwing away the saturated animal fat?

Aloha,

My daughter gave me the 'original' and it sat for years. Brother's I am sold. Better late than never. LOL

Definitely have to pay attention to not over cook the food

Teflon coating should be safe until it starts to peel, like the pans-yea?

V

As long as you use the plastic spatula to clean it the teflon should last for a very very long time. Whatever you do dont use anything metal to clean it lol. I learned my lesson from that.

i dont like them personally... meat taste funny and dry after, idk how to explain

I cover mine with aluminum foil and the cleaning is easy and the teflon is not damaged at all. After cooking just remove the foil and wipe down the grill.
