Getting alot of spam e-mail in the past day. Why?

I'm not very cyber savvy so I don't understand this. I did email a board sponsor yesterday but other than that I havent emailed anyone. I've been getting spam ever hour or so. Anyone explain? Thanks

I just recently got spam from a new sponsor I had no contact with. I don't mind getting ads from PM cause I gave them my e-mail, I just don't like my info being handed out without my knowledge.

There seems to be a big problem with this the last 2 weeks.

2 Weeks ago a sponsor I emailed one time from my own servers e-mail started getting over 10000 e-mails a day. A few days later It started happening to my server and I eventually had to delete the e-mail account and clean the server.

This seems to be a Russian virus that's spread through e-mail.

Blocking the sender doesn't work but if you're able to bounce the e-mail back that may work.

Unless you have your own server I don't think you can do anything except delete your e-mail account.

I dotn know if it has anything to do with it but Google has been doing some updates the last week or so and scraping programs are getting through a little easier it seems.
