I'm not a beginner but didn't know where to post this. I don't know if it's stress, the holidays or my body forcing me to take a break but I lost all motivation. I lifted for the first time in 3 weeks last night. I go to the gym 5x a week with the wife but haven't had the motivation or energy to lift so I just spot her when she needs it. Any tips to get back on track or do I just need to quit being a pussy and just lift.

Are you working harder than normal or just lost the drive to train?
Something is up especially if you are at the gym with the wife not lifting 🤔
Maybe try some type of PWO to get you going an energy drink all the way up to TNE I believe that it will help but just like with anything you gotta want it or it doesn't get done maybe you just need a break and get back in slowly, change up your routine, just do what you like to do in the gym certain training or whatever it might be I believe that you have it in you brother.
Are your hormones crashed? Did you recently change your testosterone dosage or not even running anything possibly?

In all areas of life i look at what i want for the future not how i feel at the moment.

I struggle with this all the time. When I do take time off or don’t lift I hate myself and my personality is off. I found that I need to go no matter what. It’s an outlet for me and something I have been doing my whole life. I just don’t feel like myself.
Go if you don’t want.
If that’s hard or too much at first go for a day then take a day off then go again. Think as the days off as a reward for training.

I’ve found the times I have no motivation or drive to lift have been some of my best workouts.

I'm hoping it's just stress with money and the holidays taking a toll. Not working any more hours at work. I'm not tired or sore. Just don't have the drive to go. I'm benched last night. Gonna try and squat tonight

i wouldnt train then....why go halfass??

if your not feeling it....dont go...

plenty of times ive showed up to the gym....found a parking spot...
sat there a minute....and said fuck it and went home...not feeling it.
and didnt come back for 2 months...or whatever it took.

you will know when you know....no need to rush it..

remember......the tortoise ALWAYS wins.

there is alot of stress for everyone right now....so there IS that
like you said....so training could be the outlet there too....
but dont force yourself through the doors.

Day 2 in the books. Decided to deadlift since my partner had a Xmas party. Was able to pull 425x1 decent. Did some other back stuff too. Feeling like I'm getting back on track. Maybe I just needed a little jump start

You took 3 weeks off, so overtraining or physical stress is out of the question. But resting so long could causes an initial imbalance, your body has to adapt to the lifting and routine again, so does your mind.

Motivation? Forget that

I would like to evaluate something definitive:

Before training, if you have no desire to do it... but how do you feel during and after exercise? You feel great?

You could also modify your routine if it has not changed for too long.
