Getting Sick Weeks Before Competing

I have a friend that I am helping get ready for a bikini competition in 4 weeks. She just came down with a bad sinus infection and bronchitis, and they put her on prednisone, levoflaxacin, and promethazine. Definitely not good for competition purposes. She is on very low carbs right now, and has been doing the ECA stack.

What advice would anyone have for dealing with this?

Have you ever gotten sick while prepping for a competition, and how did you deal with it?

If its as bad as you state then my only advice is pull her from the gym and cardio regime and let her body heal - health is far more important in the long run!

Competition is hard enough on the body when your fit.

Get her fit then plan for another show, maybe in 2 weeks, maybe next year, whatever, its dissapointing but the body needs time to heal!

Rest. Forget the show. Bronchitis is serious business. She will have more opportunities in the future. Health above all else.

I agree with both of the above. I told her to get lots of rest and fluids and drop the ECA, but try to stick to the diet. And to take this week off from the gym and see if she bounces back by next weekend.

Was more curious to see how people have dealt with being sick and/or having to take various medications (like corticosteroids) while prepping for a show (or otherwise really). Dietary manipulations, supplements, etc.? Things less obvious than forgetting the prep and getting rest, etc.

I have had congestion and sniffles every show, but felt fine otherwise, sounds like she needs some big time rest.

Bikini doesn't require a hard tight physique; keep her home for a week maybe 2 until she gets over it and you may be surprised how good she looks after the rest.

I've gotten quite sick before a couple of BB shows. Bikini is nowhere near as demanding, partly because she doesn't have to be as dry. Getting fully dehydrated is where one could get into the most trouble. If she's sick enough to worry about more than that, then there won't be any question about what to do.
