that is where i have the issue with milos training.. not that it cant work.. but, the body does know the difference between higher and lower threshholds.. just because tyhe weight is "feeling" heavy does not mean tha the body is responding to it by throwing in more fiber recruitment.. fatigue products can hinder the ability of a muscle to contract to its fullest.. if we are throwing fatigue products at a high rate into any muscle with high volume/giant sets then the weight will dercrease accordingly and feel "heavy".. but, are we really attacking the high threshold units which are the "growth" units we want.. or are we just giving the body the ability to store more glycogen by the own nature of giants sets.. which in turn can lead to more fullness.. ?? in other words i am still confused as to what milos is doing and why.. i have asked him to give me the physiological reasoning for the giant sets but, i never get one..
good points lats,
the waste products are definatly higher when performing giant sets, most people dont think about this when doing them... i use extra supps such as potassium citrate, carnosine, alcar, taurine, nac, and a host of other lactic acid buffers in higher amounts on the days i incorperate these sets into my routine...this is kinda funny i was going through all this a while back with bigboy j on here trying to tell him that basically what you have said that a pump is not the best indicater of a sucessfull workout and that a pump to strong can actually hinder gains and especially performance....
what th giant sets are doing is recruiting more (dormant) muscle fibers, ones that we are not using when hitting failure with a heavy set of 8-10 reps... you make a good point about stroring more glycogen, that is part of the reason why these giant sets work, the dormant fibers are "awaking" and are recruited to lift the weight and in return store more glycogen leading to more fullness and more fascia expansion.....
i agree with ya on the contraction, i belive it is vital to optimal growth but not always necassary to stimulate it... if you look at ronnie train on bench press he dosent come close to full contraction on his bench press, i assume he is putting more stress on the pec by leaving it under time of tension for longer, thus stimulating growth...
there is one thing that i have seen with milos athletes, they all make great gain in a short amount of time while training with him, i assume it is mostly caused by a change in the routine, most bb's are set in their ways, and know the best way to grow for thier body, but after training with him i have read numerous artilces that they say they had no idea what hard training was until they trained under him,,,
obviously they are not the be all end all of trainig, but i have tried a lot of different training methods and these are definatly one of my fav's.. they do put a enormous amount of fatigue on the cns, so you need to be carefull to not overtrain while using them....
