Hi guys.

What is the preferred method to use when donating blood for health reasons for an AAS user?

Do we want to donate "Double Red", or just do a standard whole blood donation? Please explain why one is better than the other.

I've heard both answers before, but I'd like to get clarification on this issue.

From my knowledge I would say double red, but personally I generally just do the whole blood because it takes up a fraction of the time and I'm always in a rush. Lol

i always donate double red cells , supposedly they get more red blood cells that way than if they took two units of whole blood , the down side is tou can only donate every 16 weeks. My hematocrit is general low to mid 60's by the 16 week mark even when only on my TRT dose.

According to Kaladryn, he says double red defeats the purpose because it returns the plasma. He is pretty emphatic about it too.

I personally don't know.

The plasma lowers your hematocrit.....your body makes more after blood is drawn pretty quick, but produces rbcs more slowly so hematocrit drops. Returning plasma would immediately lower hematocrit....

I put this same post out a few weeks ago and nobody mentioned this. Looks like whole blood from now on.

mid 60's? Holy shit man that is high. Give whole every 6 weeks instead

Not doing it because the plasma is returned doesn't make sense to me. It would immediately lower your hematocrit, which would be a good thing.

I may end up going this rout via a dr because you can only give a full unit every 8 weeks or double every 16.
giving double every 16 lowers mine better than give one unit whole blood every 8 weeks.

Normal average range for a healthy male is 45-55 i think

on my blood tests its 41-53 but i think it depends on age

Mine was just at 60 and the Dr. said I was a walking heart attack or stroke!
Vomited up 2+ quarts that day due to a tear in my stomach? and it dropped to 54...

If your into high volume, I would suggest double red in mid cycle, then regular donations a few months afterward. As one fella mentioned it takes up to 8 weeks to recoup those red blood cells. Be sure to fluid up and eat more green leafy foods bro.. Spinach, Beet greens and Kale, eat up!
