Giving computer away.. all I need to do, replace hard drive?

If I am giving my computer away.. I obviously want it 100% clean for them.. not that I do anything illegal, BUTTT lets just say I want them to have ZERO access to anything of mine and I want the computer fresh like new for them.

Is all I need to do, replace the hard-drive? Any other parts need to be replaced?

It really depends on how worried you are of old data on your system. The full proof plan would be replace the hard drive and reload the operating system on the new drive. Then take your old hard drive and make sure it's safly disposed of. Give your computer away with zero worries.

Basically take the hard drive and you are clean. Nothing remains on memory/ram or any other part of your pc.

Even if you deleted and formatted the old hard drive and installed a new operating system on it, there are forensic experts that could pull information off of it. So yes just remove your hard drive, you can even use it again on a new pc, and still work with files on it.

(newegg.com is one of the most trusted and least expensive places online to find hard drives or and everything else electronic.)

I'm not using my hard drive anymore, I want to trash it. To much banking stuff on it and all.. No questions just want it nuked. Destroying the disc plates is all you have to do, correct?

Nothing else about the hard drive stores info, just the actual discs right?

I don't want to just throw it out and maybe someone finds it. Please no questions just want help with what I want to do!! We all have our reasons!

Just take the hard drive apart and destroy the platters....It's not hard...LOL.
