Does anyone know if glycerin pre cardio in the mornings will affect you in a negative way..like take you out of the fasted state..I take 10 G of BCAAs before with some glut, green tea, and cissus.
For ex, you do it on an empty stomach b/c your glycogen levels are depleted b/c of the fast over night, glycerin doesnt spike inslin so I kinda dont think it'd mess anything up..it might even help.
however, I also read that it can be converted by the liver into glucose and provide energy.
So, it would use that for fuel instead of the selected source, fat, which is not what you want.
Anyone know anything about this?

7DS,
From what I understand, Glycerine is one of the best things with isolated protein/BCAA's. If you are in a fasted or depleted state, supposedly your body will convert Glycerine to your bodies preferred or needed energy substrate - carbohydrates or fatty acids. I don't recall the pathway how. The one cool thing that you mentioned is that it does not impact insulin levels which is important for continued lipolysis.
Anywho, that is my understanding.

Thanks Quad.
I hope dad will know the answer. lol

From what I understand, each Tbsp contains about 14g of carbs. like you said they have no impact on insulin. Seeing as 2 Tbsp is a normal recommendation it would be about 28 carbs before hand. (112 calories). I would think the benefit of the bcaa transport would be well worth the calories.

Thanks JD.
Anyone else happen to know if it'd mess up morning cardio any?

I dont think I would trust it...as we all agree the BCAA's are good for anticatobolism but Dorian Yates says he felt it affected blood sugar...some guys like Dave Pulcinella (who gets shredded) claims that even diet soda will affect insulin and therefore he only drinks water throughout his prep...I would say if maximum fat loss is the number one goal u may want to stick to an ECA and some water..JMO (Phil probably has a good answer on this.)

From what I understand though, diet soda is sweetened with splenda which is a derivative of sugar, hence the possible effect on insulin.
glycerine on the other hand is formed from vegetable oils (fats) not sugars. could be an important difference. to know for sure you probably need a blood sugar meter.

Most diet soda's uses Aspartame.

Would you happen to have anything that would talk about this more..maybe a study or something?
