good gym's in philly

asked once before but thought i'd start my own hread.

Im moving around the northeast Philly(pa) area does anyone live around heir and know of any good gym, I'm trying to take my body to the next level after i recoup from he surgery i am geting in a couple weeks. I like a more serious atmosphere(a.k.a not baileys), free weights, hammer strength, and cybex(the newer kind) would be nice. Id like a place where there are state and national level competitors, it inspires me when i am the smallest person in the room.

I would love to meet members on the board as well so if anyone lives near me i'd like to know your gym of choice

I have the passport plan.
So I can go to any club (NY and Phil), which I do.

See if you can get an employee discount thru your company.

There is another gym in Morristown, NJ (south jersey).

It is under the library in the town.
It is run by the town.

The cost is $20 per month.

They have Olympic trainers there and power lifter trainers.

There are guys well into the 500lbs and 800lbs power lifter circles there.
Talk about wide bodies ... massive ...
I think they haul them in on a pickup flat bed.

I go there too ... once a week.

I think for the Olympic trainer, and he is good ... it is like another $20 per month. The town pays for him for the most part, or the county.

Mike Spare is supposed to do some training there in the Dec time.
He is an older guy, but holds alot of powerlifting records too.

River's Gym

River's Gym in Philly is a great bodybuilding gym...Dr. Rev Richard Brown promotes contests and preps people. I know that at one time he prepped Steve Holland.

It's not a Gold's anymore. They bailed like so many other owners that got tired of paying the rising franchise fees. The name is now Ultimate Fitness. I'd been there a couple times when I could use my travel pass. Now the gym I go to isn't a Gold's either!

No shit i didnt know they changed it ... I havent been in the Northeast in quite a while but i lived in they area for 2 years...

I passed thru Philly today. I drove by the place to find that it has gone out of business. The World Gym a few block north on Roosevelt is still there though.

yes, ultimate fitness(Gold's) closed on Grant...Train now at the LA Fitness's--Neshaminy and Oxford Valley...Just avoid Mondays from 5-7...

ps World on the Blvd ain't that bad...just not a bodybuilding gym( big TV right next to the dumbell rack...dudes just sit on the benches and watch tv..wtf?)
