Gravlax in your meal plan?

Have any of you ever incorporated gravlax into your offseason or prep meal plan? As I understand it, gravlax is cured salmon (not cooked or smoked). The cure marinade that I've seen included dill, sea salt, sugar, lemon zest, horseradish and beet root. Looked absolutely delicious. Curious to know if any of you vikings regularly incorporate. I'm thinking a good substitute for a beef or salmon protein.

I just eat sockeye salmon, 8-10 oz 4 or 5 days a week.

No reason why not, it’s just an expensive way of eating salmon 😂
Unless you cure it yourself maybe.

It is nice though I must admit, just beware of the salt content.

On a side note regarding salmon, there’s a lot of talk these days on how toxic farmed salmon is, you’ve maybe seen the videos?? How true it is, I’m not sure.

However- Buying salmon in the uk is mega expensive now- let alone wild caught- I’ve been eating the tinned wild caught now for some time.
It’s no gourmet like gravlax but I’m only eating it for the health benefits, and I can eat it daily at this price

I've never had gravlax. I eat cold smoked, wild caught salmon, eggs and sprouted grain toast about once a week for breakfast in the offseason. I don't eat it more frequently because of cost and mercury concerns.

Same, I love me some cold smoked salmon. Perfect on toast in the mornings for added protein with little fats for me.

The only fish I do is shrimp or sushi, that said, I got spoiled when I lived in Belgium, thinly sliced fresh Turkey breast, and ultra lean thinly sliced beef is the fuckin shit, even better macros than chicken, and more flavorful, hard to find it in the states the way the do it in the EU.

I heard that too. I used to get the coho from aldis but heard it's from Chile and shit. So now I get the sockeye from sams club it's supposed to be higher quality.

Doesn’t appear difficult to cure the salmon yourself. Cover the salmon with the curing marinade, wrap it in Saran Wrap and stick it in fridge for 24 hours. Going to have to give this a try.

I make some gravlax now and again, usually end up eating with eggs at breakfast, sometimes in a wrap or sandwich. I’d eat it every day if salmon wasn’t so expensive.
