So... who cares if they record mass IP address to record what topics are searches the most? It's really easy to find someone's IP address, and it's NOT a gateway to their computer...

As far as Ip addresses,I know somebody that works in the fraud division for a large corporation.Two times I gave him an IP address and within 48 hrs. he had there name and address.

Some people want to surf anonymously.

hey bro your welcome .Your right Google has sold out big time thats why i feel comfortable using startpage.com .Also there's a good program called scroogle its a toolbar download.

I guess I should have said a little more anonymously.If you use this search engine above they will not keep a record of your searches as google does.
And when you do a search under each result it has a proxy option.If you choose the proxy option to view that website which is a little slower speed wise,the websites arent geting your Ip address.
Heres the upside of proxy:

Startpage goes to the website you select, retrieves the page, and displays it for you.

You are invisible to the website. They see only Startpage's IP address, not yours.

Since you never make direct contact with the website, they can't see or store cookies on your browser.

You can click on linked pages from the website and the Startpage proxy will display those for you too.

While using the proxy, you are protected at all times by Startpage's outstanding privacy policy. (No IP address recorded, no identifying cookies used, no search or browsing activity stored.)

The Startpage Proxy Service offers complete privacy and anonymity.

The downside is that pages load more slowly, since Startpage must retrieve the contents and redisplay them.

^^Thanks for clearing that up. I went to an IP find page while using this website and it had my IP. I didnt try the proxy.
