What would cause someone to get gyno (lumps, swollen breast tissue) thats a natural athlete and is not using ANY supplements,AAS,HGH,IGF-1?

I believe there are a lot of things that can cause it.. It isn't uncommon for males to get it while going through adolescence. How old is the athlete? Diet is also a big factor, along with other weird things (smoking pot has a HUGE affect)...just an example.. Some people also get it from genetics, which can be due to just a slightly abnormal hormone balance, but it can make a big difference. Has the person always had it, or did it all of the sudden just pop up?? Hope we can help ya figure it out bud.

Apparently it popped up out of no where. Kinda of strange that you mentioned pot because I know he's an occasional user. He also just told me he is prescribed benzodiazepines (valium, xanax) by his doctor for a similar disorder like I suffer from called Levator Syndrome. I did a google search and found out that pot and benzo's both can cause Gyno ,even used independantly.

My question is now what can I do to help him out. I've convinced him to stop puffing the weed pipe, and giving up the Benzo's (giving these up may become another issue). Should he begin a Nolvadex or Arimidex treatment immediately?

Also, since it's obvious this guys doesnt use bodybuilding drugs like AAS, will insurance pay for a gyno surgery if it's from natural causes OR from the benzo's his own doctor prescribed him?

Nolva should get rid of the gyno if it's a fairly new development. A little arimidex should help too in case aromitazation is a factor.

Insurance should cover it since it was a side effect of prescribed drugs as long as the physician will agree that that's what caused it. Even if it was a natural occurence insurance should cover it. I doubt it was natural though. Just make sure he doesn't let the doctor know he's a pot user because then the insurance may not cover it.

Thanks for the reply BBJ. How much Nolva should we start him on?

I would go with 40mg/day right away and try this for 10 days..Time is an essential factor with gyno, the faster you catch it, the better.. Hopefully then it will mostly subside. I think that's kinda a rule of thumb I use when and if I start getting symptoms. Man, I swear when I eat too much sodium my nips get a little puffy, which I guess makes sense due to the water ret.. hope this helps.

Yeah, I think Moose is right, 40 mg per day, but I would take that dose until the symptoms were gone and then drop down to 20 mg per day for a few months. Also, make sure he keeps nolva handy in the future as well. Once you get gyno, it can make a reappearance pretty easily.

many meds can cause gyno...gyno can also be a sign of impaired liver function...i got a gyno flare up while taking catapress...i've also heard motrin can cause gyno..
