Gyno surgery time off

It's super difficult for me to take time off from work. Is 5 days rest ok for post gyno surgery?

I am a firefighter/. paramedic but most likely I'll be on am ambulance 5 days later

depends on your severity of the gyno, mine was super bad and i had to take 30 days, labor intensive job. i also had drains in mine. i was fortunate, and my employer actually let me use fmla for the surgery. I've heard of some guys taking a week or so. do you have vacation? you could try to hold out until you get some, then get it done. i waited until i got to the point where i was given 3 weeks vacation. but i wasn't aware i qualified for fmla.

Anything over head is gonna be super painful. Like getting your favorite mug off the middle shelf. Just washing my hair was a bitch that first time. You'll be supplied an elastic & velcro abdominal wrap that you wear tightly around your chest to prevent hematoma formation. I had drains as well that hung from my wrap with safety pins. My chest was black & blue for a good month. I can't imagine being in the field and having to pull/push someone out a vehicle, onto a gurney and up into a rig. I don't think you realize how much pain your going to be in that first week. It's extremely important you allow the surgery to heal properly. Imagining just doing CPR post gyno surgery sounds like a shit show. 5 days is not going to be enough in my humble opinion.

Yea we only get vacation once a year and my boss is a super ass hole about time off

I had the surgery on a Friday morning and was back at my desk at work that Monday. I took a month off from lifting based on my doc's recommendation. Started doing light cardio about 2 weeks post surgery.

Oh yeah I had those drains in for like 3-4 days and had to wear the man bra for at least a month
