Has anyone in or around the NJ area had this done, and if so, would you mind sharing who you used and your overall experience? Thank you. I’m in south Jersey btw

There is a doc in NY named Dr. Maffei. Several people here at ProM have used him for gyno. Do a search on him. He does great work

Yea I’ve actually heard Of him. If I recall he is cash only? Looking for someone who will accept my insurance.

99% of docs will not accept insurance for gyno surgery. They need to prove it's medically necessary so it's almost impossible for a plastic surgeon to bill your insurance. I paid cash and it was worth every penny. It ain't cheap but its worth saving for.

Yea I’m going through the process of trying to find a surgeon now, It ain’t fun lol. As my endo said, if it’s causing you pain, which it is, then there’s a good chance they cover it. So that’s what I’m hoping

I don't know what your deductible and co pays are but it may just be worth paying cash and finding the best plastic surgeon. I don't recommend settling for some general surgeon just because you were able to get insurance to pay for it, especially if you still are responsible for a large deductible.

You will have to find a plastic surgeon who works in a hospital to have any chance of this being covered, even then, the "pain" trick used to work but no longer does, insurance companies are wise to this, lots of men (outside of bodybuilding) want to get this covered also so they know about it. In addition, these types of plastic surgeons will not do the type of job you are looking for, it won't turn out well. You need a gyno specialist who has worked with a lot of bodybuiders, there aren't that many and none of them are covered by insurance.

Yeah my guy in South Florida specializes in gyno surgery. At the time it was $7500 for surgery, surgery center cost and anesthesia for both nips.

Yea definitely not using a general surgeon, plastic all the way. Don’t have the extra 5-8k laying around to pay out of pocket unfortunately.

Am from south jersey also and going through the process again got denied the first time but with my mom getting breast cancer and the pain I actually have in my right breast I hope it covers it this time. My endo doctor recommended Dr Michael Sasso he is in south jersey

Let us know how you make out man. Good luck

Out of curiosity, if you have the surgery, does it eliminate the chance of it ever recurring? I've obviously had it, but anti-e's, caber, etc. have always dealt with it. Got it to the point once where I thought surgery would be my only option, but proper meds/supps addressed the issue. Curious if during the surgery they remove the glands and chance of it ever appearing again. Might be worth 7-10k.

As far as I know, once the gland is removed it’s never coming back. I’ve dealt with it on and off for years. Nolva will keep it down, but do I really wanna keep taking a drug when i can eliminate the ROOT of the problem? My answer is no sir

The gland has a "tail" and a "head" that can send tendrils pretty far from the main gland and grow back if missed, also they have to leave a tiny bit of the gland under the nipple or you will have an indent. This is all from Dr. Blau, he has a lot of youtube videos, check them out.

If they remove the entire gland (as they've done with me), it can never come back.

I had the surgery and my gland was not removed. I was told by my doc that you still need something there or you can have indented nips. I learned hard from my original mistakes so I am not worried about ever getting gyno again. I always keep my estro/prolactin in check.

Update:

it doesn’t look like I’m gonna find a plastic surgeon that accepts insurance. I have a consultation scheduled with a general surgeon in a couple weeks, but don’t know how I feel about having them do it. Everything I’ve read suggests to go with a plastic surgeon, which is understandable

Check out Dr. Blau, the man is brilliant when it comes to gyno surgery.

I have heard nothing but bad things for a very long time about Blau now. Apparently he was the best in the 90s but seems to be butchering people for the last decade. Every time his name gets mentioned on this board someone has a horror story.
