had to Bury my Dog on Saturday..Sucks

I know this has nutin to do with this board but I wanted to postthis because of the recent post Ive seen with others havining issues with sick and dying dogs..

On Sat my wife was driving her truck up our driveway which is long since we live in the woods...Our dog was running beside the truck as usaual..the dog slipped on pine needles and went under the front wheel...The truck is a Yukon XL, so its big...The dog was a German Shepard/Lab mix and I don't think we'll ever find a better dog, we recued her from a sheletr 2 years ago and she was only 6..My wife is devastated along with myself and my kids..
But my wife feels it was her fault..Its been a few hard days...
I have some land so we have a pet cemetary out back, so I had to bury my best friend that day..And it sucked!!! I feel like I lost a child... Can't sleep, no appatite, depression, don't wanna get otta bed... I know its a process but I'm always gonna miss that dog for the rest of my life...My house seems incompleete now...and my wife is still in a funk...

I know its a matter of time..but it hurts like hell right now..

there are more than a few of us here which have had our own expiriences w pets passing. i burried my 8 yr old english bulldog lucky myself also and know what it feels like. i have a pic of him next to my bed i look at all the time. it will get better. ill post again later

Crypt sorry to hear that. I know it tough been threw a few of those losses also. Losing a pet is no different than losing a human family member.
It will take time. Keep your chin up.

Thanks all, appreciate it...I think in her heart my wife knows its not her fault,
it sjust that she just made some mushroom soup and took some down to an old man we have that lives at the end of our lane..between 3 of us back in the woods we have about 50 acres combined so neibors are scrace..anyway she just drove to the end of the lane dropped off some soup for him and came back..she feels if she just didnt do that it wouldnt have happened...
Thx for the kind words....Ive started to develop friendships with some of you guys on here, some not yyet but as time goes on we will.. and its nice to be able to vent and discuss other things than just training and chemicals..cause in the long run..lets face it...its the least important thing at some times..as it is for me right now...

Pets are family members....its just that simple. I know whats its like losing loved ones and it sucks man. I feel for you and your loss. Remember all the good times you had with him (even though it hurts) and be thankful for the time you had together. Things will get better....it just takes time. God's speed my friend. AWN

Your wife feels like it's her fault but just remind her that it was all an accident, i know it's harder to do than that, but she will feel guilty for a long time and you need to try your best to let her know it wasnt. My family dog of 15 yrs. just passed a few weeks ago and my mom and dad are still depressed and the 'house feels empty" like you said. it's very hard, but stick together and help each other through it. again, i am sorry to hear about the loss.

I feel for you my friend....it sucks to lose a best friend. I know it probably won't help but try and keep your head up knowing he had great life with you and know that the pain will slowly subside.

Sorry to hear that......that's just horrible.

My girlfriend just lost a dog that way...and old ranch dog named Grinner. He was cool...got old and deaf...He got backed over...extremely sad.

I am so sorry for your loss. A pet is a family member, and when we lose them the pain is just awful. I know the pain you are going through and it will get better. Please tell your wife not to feel guilty, it was an accident. Maybe in time getting another dog will help heal the pain.

man there is nothing i can say at al do your story except that i am so sorry to see you feel that way and have to go through that... i have been there.. i caused the death of my dog and she was my little girl since i do not have kids it was my child.. i feel your pain and i hope you feel better each day and think of what you had and not what you didn't....

Thanks again all!! Well here' s the update...I took off weds and went w the wife and daughter and hit the pounds...We rescued a 2yr old male Great Dane, Husky, Lab mix...Great dog..lots of energy, and Big fucker for 2yrs old..
He's happy and so are we so far..he has alot of learning to do, basicly he's a big baby and hasn't been taught any manners..was in the one lady had him for 3 mos and couldn't handle him, so he's been in the pound for the last few mos. and needs some disciplen (so does my son) so atleast the void is filled...could never replace my previous pooch, but we found another one to give a good home to, and enjoy..

Don't ever be embarrassed to admit

you loved a dog so deeply.

Just remember it ws a dog and not your child which I know is harsh, but unlike me you have replaced or are replacing the object of your affection.
That is something that after 6 years fromputting down a shepard/lab I cannot do.

Now the Christian story is that God gave his only Son. It is my prayer that in heaven your dog and my dog await us!

my dog, Puncher, as I type this. My eyes water thinking about what I will do when that day comes God forgive. He is my child, my best friend! He loves me more than anything. He only cares about being with me. Everyone can be in a room having a blast and if I leave to be myself he leaves to come by my side.
