Social media is the worst thing that ever happened to society.

I think so too, leaving aside the fitness/steroids etc thread, an interesting phenomenon is the increase in women's expectations of men over the last ~15 years, more or less since the first iPhone appeared. Now regular, average girls have so much approval on Tinder and other apps that some of them have their egos shot off the scale. I don't know, everything used to be simpler, or maybe I'm getting old lol

Reddit is strictly for entertainment purposes only. It’s to laugh at the dumb shit being posted or literally question just how stupid some people truly are.

I would occasionally comment on some posts. I don’t anymore because I just get immediately banned for glorifying violence in some shape or form.

Anybody who has anything shitty to say to someone changing their life for the better is simply a jealous hater. Plain and simple.

Just to add to the Social Media commentary. We know the algorithms are build to encourage engagement above all. That's why malignant content is most heavily promoted.

We saw this used to great effect by Cambridge Analytica and disinformation campaigns today most notably by Russia where they play both sides of inflammatory issues to destabilize and disrupt.
The machine is made to be addictive and like most addictive things that means using destructive means. In my previous career I had to find ways to work the machine in our business favor, and while our intent wasn't malicious, finding out how the system worked and how to use it effectively was disheartening to say the least - a horrible Pandora's box.

The Netflix documentary "The Social Dilemma" was pretty good for regular people to get some insight.

In general and especially the internet, people tend to think they are much smarter then they really are or at least want others to think so. And the harder they push at getting others to think they are smart the less i believe them and think they are likely very insecure. But i find many it not most of us have been there at some point to some degree. But to make a lifestyle of it is just a waste of life. That should be over by the time one is out of their 20's.
