6 months ago I got my wisdom teeth removed and ended up with "severe nerve damage" in my neck, shoulder, and arm. I have what is called a brachial plexus injury or parsnage turner syndrom. I'm finnaly getting over the depression of "why did this happen to me?" And the realization that the pain and extreme weakness in my right arm may be permanent. Only 4% of people make a full recovery within 3 years but, 70-80% make a 90% recovery. Has anyone ever heard of this sort of nerve damage happening to a weightlifter? And what kind of recovery did they make? in terms of strength and chronic pain which is also a part of this injury. Thank you and to all the folks dealing with a life changing injury, keep your head up.

Sorry to hear that bro.
I dont know anyone who has had your condition but I have worked with plenty of stroke victims who have recovered almost 100%. Dont listen to the doctors in terms of odds. They are always conservative. I have found that age, attitude and physical condition prior to the incident are the big factors with stroke victims. I am sure you have all of these in your favor. Good luck to you.

Any chance of a settlement out of this? Im sure it was in the disclaimer though. That would go a long way towards paying for PT.

Thank you for the words. I spoke to a lawyer who didn't take my case because medical malpractice is so difficult to prove where I live the dr practically has to cut off the wrong limb. Also there was an infection involved which can cause the condition I have and infections are an accepted risk of surgery.

YES! I was shot and the bullet transected a nerve in my face. I could not raisemy eyebrow or the right side of my face for about 3 months. Slowly the function came back. My doctor explained that it might not ever every come back or that it would come back very very slowly. Appearently nerves take a long ass time to heal.

I have recovered twice from pretty severe nerve impingement. A disc protrustion c5-c6 left me wth abut a 60% loss of strength on my right side, primarly shoulder/tricep. Treating the inflamation with ice, ibuprofin, prednisone etc and i fully recovered in about 3 months two different times.. My neurologist said I may or may not recover my strength. That was hard to hear. Hang in there, stay positive and good things will happen.

iv been dealing w/ a pinched nerve in my neck but i finally found a chiropractor who pretty muck fixe it in abt 6 visits.

I woke up one night about a week and half ago with my ring and pinky fingers COMPLETELY numb. This has something to do with strange stuff happening to my ulner nerve. It supposedly can heal itself with a month. That would be great! The other issue could be a spine problem for my symptoms. It is feeling a little better every few days or so which leads me to believe it is the ulner nerve. Good luck with your problem bro. I know most people say having their wisdom teeth removed was horrible but i dont think i ever recovered quicker from something in my life.
