Like the title says..i've been thinking about trying some fried chicken using my coconut oil.

I don't think most people on here deep fry things, but you'd be better off using lard or tallow. Coconut oil is more expensive than either of those.

Is it virgin coconut oil?

VCO has a smoke point of 350 while canola's is 400.

Of course you can deep fry in VCO but you might damage some of the compounds (healthy stuff) if heating too high.

VCO would get expensive but regular coconut oil I think would be fine.

Frying oil will just damage the nutritional characteristic of it. Frying is not a healthy option.

I think i recall using coconut oil in my deep fryer. When i put the food in the oil bubbled and overflowed the fryer. Didn't workout too well.

The thing I don't like about coconut oil is that it gives food a little bit of a sweetness to it.

i don't particularly like the taste when i cook some things like scrambled eggs in it, but it works good for certain things like pork chops.

I pan fry fish with it all the time. Iron skillet is the key....

Grapeseed oil is best for frying.

Do it all the time, hands down best oil to bake cook and fry with.

There are 2 types of Coconut Oil, one is refined and other one is Unrefined. I would choose the Unrefined Coconut oil typically labeled “virgin” or “extra-virgin.” To my knowledge, there’s not any consistent difference between virgin and extra-virgin coconut oils across all brands. Each brand tends to have their own definition of these labels. In general, though, virgin and extra-virgin coconut oils are made from the first pressing of fresh, raw coconut without the addition of any chemicals. You can fry anything in Coconut oil.

Also you can buy chickens that is Organic Pastured Chickens raised on Cocofeed. :)

I cook with coconut oil almost exclusively although I have only pan fried some Parmesan chicken once. It turned out delicious.
I've never used coconut oil to deep fry as that seems like it could get very expensive.
Trying to imagine a thanksgiving turkey deep fried in coconut oil...
