Heart Problems Landed me in Hosptial

Well I'm home tonight after entry in the Emergency room this past Sunday. I felt like crap all day Saturday but thought nothing of it. Sunday was a whole different story, I woke up and felt like I was having a panic attack, chest was tight and I felt like I was going to loose control. I drove myself to the local medical station.. after several minutes they prompted me to get to the ER ASAP. Drove myself to the ER and within minutes they wheeled me in and hooked to a EKG Machine, they did not like what they saw they hooked up the patches to the crash cart and had me chewing baby apsrin. They told me to call my loved ones, at this point I had no idea what was going on, but just to tell them I'm on the verge of having a heart attack. After things settled down they wheeled me upstairs where they ran blood and did a ultra sound of my heart. They told me I had fluid around my heart and my heart wall looked larger than normal for a 30yr old. Over the next days they continued their tests with 2 MRI's to get a closer look. In the end they feel the fluid around my heart was caused from a infection but the enlargement has nothing to do with this. Doctor told me a story about how the Olympic rowing team all have enlarged hearts, but one thing they don't have is Enlarged Valves. I told them everything I used in the past, one doctor told me It could be a flood infection if I use dirty needles, I told him my shots are intermuscular not sure how that would cause a blood infection. Right now they have me on 800mg IBUPROFIN every 8 hours to bring down the retention around the heart. I'm pretty scared right now because I'm confused. Has anyone had similar experience. They did see no damage to the heart yet they said it does not look happy. I was at the hopsital 4 weeks ago due to infectious bacteria, and they think maybe it never cleared completely and went to my heart. I have another appoint setup for a second opinion. I have always figured my heart would be a little enlarged due to my training but enlarged valve?

Any Ideas or Experiences

Just Glad to be back for the Holidays!

enlarged valves can happen from infections that travel to the heart. It doesnt matter if your a bodybuilder on juice or a regular person, Endocarditis or Rheumatic Fever. Take care and listen to the docs and it should clear up.

With the ultrasound of the heart that showed the hypertrophy, did they tell you your ejection fraction? Just wondering how your heart is functioning. A normal EF is 60% or more.

I was once diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and an EF of less than 30%. Once I got off the gear it went back to normal. Chris on here had the very same experience. Pekkerwood had a similar expericence, but his heart still isnt up to par.

then 2 years ago I had a heart attack and now ive got a pacemaker/defibrillator.

Make the right choices from now on out and I think youll be ok.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Listen to your Doc... If you have health insurance, make sure you maximize it.... Get second opinions, go to specialists, get extra blood work and scans...

Be patient, and take it easy

Yes indeed you are correct,,,these can happen to anyone,,young,,,old,,,it doesnt matter. I have a young friend (24 who just about died a few weeks ago from some virus that caused inflammation around the heart. He's your average Joe who doesnt body build or ever touched AAS.

yep, in fact these issues would be far from AAS side effects. AAS "CAN" effect your ventricular walls, but im pretty sure they dont effect valves. dont have my stuff available at the moment, and too stuffed to bother to look it up online atm.

funny note as well... had a workup by my cardiologist the other week before starting new cycle... just to have a look. We were discussing how i have no LVH and he was saying how its only an issue if you are genetically predisposed to it and in fact many people can lift heavy and do lots of AAS and never have any worthwhile level of LVH, especially if they do a good amount of cardio. food for thought

Sickness

1 month ago I had infectious diarrhea caused by Campylobacter. I went in when my fever was so high and I was shitting blood. Soon after I came down with a horrible cold knocked me off my feet couldn't move. My chest still feels tight and hard to breath. Right now they have me on 800mg ibuprofin to bring down the inflammation. I have another ultrasound of the heart on December 2.

They never did say what my ejection fraction was.. My heart was racing near 120 beats per minute. The doctor was honest and came right out and said he doubts steroids caused this.. and its common for slightly enlarged heart in athletes. He didn't like the 5iu of hgh I was using, seemed to cause him more concern. Most cycles I use usually are 1 gram test 500-600mg EQ. Current cycle I'm running 1.2 grams test and 100mg anadrol per day. Most cycle I just 1 gram of test and that's enough for me. I have never took huge doses but I guess a gram of test is pretty high.

Thank You

Thank you everyone for their encouraging Words. I'm hoping this is all from a bad infection. I will soon find out and keep everyone informed.

Yeah thats high enough to cause problems especially if you run it for long periods of time or dont take much time off. I think for me, cruising inbetween cycles was really detrimental. I wonder how you CBC came back. Was your hematocrit and hemoglobin normal? For those of us on here that had the cardiomyopathy, as soon as we got off the steroids the condition reversed itself and the heart recovered to normal or near normal. Too much to be a coincidence if you ask me.

Its your life and you can do with it what you want, but if I were you id not do the steroids ever again, period and end of story. I recovered from my cardiomyopathy but then went back on steroids and then about 5 years later I had a massive heart attack from a blood clot that was most likely aggrevated by taking steroids. You only get one heart. I hope that this scare might help you make a different choice than what I made. I am paying for it now. Docs think I have 10-15 yrs before I need a heart transplant and Im only 40 yrs old now.

Ask them what your ejection fraction is, im curious to know. It must really be down low I would think for you to be having fluid accumulate. As far as I know, thats a sign of congestive heart failure. I hope you get well soon.

Are you still in the hospital, in ICU?

You mentioned having a "cold"...

Untreated strep throat can be a very bad deal. The infection can spread to your heart valves and vegetation can start to grow on them. The vegetation is actually the accumulation of bacteria.

This is why it is so important if you have any signs of strep throat you get on an antibiotic immediately, especially if you are febrile (with fever).

I work in the medical field and am telling you, I see cases related to untreated Strep infections way too often!

After reading your post, made me think about my health a lil more.I hope everything is ok with you and your heart. I wish you the best.
