I am new to this, Have been working out for a few years and am in the best shape of my life and would like to keep it that way. I am having problems with excess skin in my stomach, does anyone know how to tighten it up without having surgery.
 
Welcome VikingVixen! :) Sounds like you've achieved some current fitness goals for yourself, congrats! I'm sorry I do not know about how to tighten up excess skin, maybe someone else will be able to chime in.

Hello vikingvixin. Loose skin is a problem when large amounts of weight have been lost. it all depends on several factors, yes age is the first. As we age our skin becomes less elastic and will not go back to where it was years ago. if it is not a large fold of skin, maintianing good hydration and the use of moistuizers and some of the new skin care products designed to reduce the effects of ageing and wrinkles may be of some benefit. if it is a large fold then surgery is an option and even though most cosmetic surgeons can do wonders there may still be a small visible scar. If it is around the naval area this procedure becomes a little more difficult. I did not want to ask a lady her age but it is relevant! If you have recently lost a considerable amount of BF then maybe give it a little time to see if the skin will reduce back some. If you want post up a pic of the offending area/s. I too have this problem when I diet for comps and is due to my age and being very o/weight many years ago. I'm 48 and I live with it as it is not too bad. Hope this is some help to you.

Thanks for your advice. I am 43 years old. I lost 85 lbs in 9 months a little over a year ago. For the most part I can hide the excess skin on my belly in my shorts, but have a problem with a bathing suit. Now I'm working on the sagy bottom area. I wonder if it will ever come up? Maybe if I just keep working on it. I will try to post a pic.

You're young darlin! lots of good years ahead! For your butt go deep in your squats, do stiff leg deadlifts and good hamstring curls and lunges. Hyper extensions will be of great benefit to your butt and lower back area. But the deep squats (below parallel) will work a treat. BTW that is an excellent job on the weight loss. That alone deserves applause!! You stick around here girl and the good members of promuscle will have you looking 21 agian!! You'll be a hottie in no time, probably already are. Train hard and keep up the good work. Be careful with your choice of supplements. There are lots of great women here for advice, don't be shy!
