I'm looking to get a security dog for the place downtown.
I have a six foot fence and remote gate, so we're all zipped up. Right?
No! fence was cut three times, once they cut two different places.
7,000.00 quote for the security I need is not having this year.
Since my buddy loaned me his red Doberman...not a peep!
So I thought maybe a Rottweiler or Doberman.
Any thoughts?
I want an intimidating dog that would be good with the family.
see that's the deal. His two kids miss their dog and I feel like the guy who's keeping him from them. He does love it here though.
More room to romp!
I just want to get my own bad ass dog and be left alone in my place.

I would go for a Rattweiler.

help with choice

I own Rottweilers and breed them as a hobby. All my dogs are from Germany or Europe. They all are World Class. One of my females that just had a litter of pups and she is out of a World Champion, his name is Gonzzo Earl Antonious. YOu can google him and see what he looks like. Heck here is my website if you want to take a look at what I have right now. It www.vonhausedodson.com
I like the way my dogs guard the house and my child when they are out side together.Do you want a puppy or a adult and how much money do you want to spend? For a guard dog I would go with one of the three Rotts, shepherd and Dobermen. They all mean business and I think anyone can tell when they get close to the protected area.
Best of luck
Chris

dog money..........

I am looking at this as an investment. as opposed to the 7,000.00 alarm and camera system. Be that as it may, in this economy and given my expensive hobbies (like eating and drinking) maybe I could spend a grand.
After looking at the German bloodlines and Yugoslavian etc and seeing the prices I have learned that these dogs are not the pound puppies I'm used to.
I'd like a dog with the basics already down.
Charlies dog is with us now and he's a good dog, big boned red Doberman.
Fits thee bill for loud bark, bad looks, has really evil lookin ears, but...he likes to run away and wont come when you call and thinks running you around for a few minutes is the funniest way to spend the morning. ever!
Sooo not too into that and need a dog big enough to hit the ground running as far as intimidating the local wildlife.

Also Aaron his three year old owner came over to visit with Charlie, my superintendent at our work, and he looks me in the eye and says "how long are you keeping my dog?" I asked him how long would be enough since he was saving us from robbers and being a hero and all....
so I got two weeks.

Pretty big of him too.

Rotties are great dogs with the perfect drive to be a good security/watch dog and still be a loving family pet.

helping picking a guard dog

Try having your friends dog trained off leash with a electric collar. Have a professional do it.
Or you can put a flexi leash on him(25') and everytime you take him out to pee when he is finished call his name , then once you get his att. say heerrrer(thats the long sound for here) and when he come give him lots of good boys and if he goes the other way yell NO really loud and put the break on the flexi leash and when he stops say the long sound for here and also this time give him a Target to come to , meaning just pat your leg when you are calling him. Do this over and over til he grasp the concept that you will have control of him at any distance. This works Trust me. I am not new at this.
See Ya

I think the pit and American bulldog is the ebst mix for protection purposes!

Go the Rottwieler. Very big, very scary, but real loyal to the family.

I bread Rotts for years. Great with security and family. Loyal dogs. Keep em lean around 110-115lbs and they are just plain sick with it. Very agile and quick.
Dobe's and Sheps are great too. Pitts work but seem to be a little crazy sometimes.

The only thing saving us from having to return their dog is that a three year old has no concept of time and the fact that his mom doesn't miss having two rowdy boys and a doberman bouncing off apartment walls.

German Shepard hands down. Very easy to train and very loyal.

I have a mean ass ex-wife I am willing to rent out for a few hours a day! :D

Pit Bull Terriers! No kid or grown up would go near your fence again! (even though pits are the biggest babies alive! hahaha but very intimidating)

German Shepards second :p

WELL OKAY THEN..............

So we're all in agreement...
Rottweilers right?
Or was it Dobermans?
My only gripe is that I'm allergic to Shepherds
and my wife keeps voting for that...
We filled out wills this weekend tooo............

I SEE A PATTERN BEGINING TO DEVELOPE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :eek
