The right side of my face, just in front of my right ear has been bothering me for a couple of days. Not too bad though. The muscle I am talking about is the one that bulges out on the side of my face when I chew my food. I eat a lot so I guess this muscle is well developed :D But...I was just sitting on my chair eating a sandwich and heard and felt a "pop" and it freakin hurt! I could barely chew and it was so painful to finish my food. Right now, I can barely clamp down to where my molars are touching in the back of my mouth due to the pain and tightness. What the fuck?!?!!? Has this ever happened to anyone else? I am worried that I am going to be forced to put everything I eat into a blender until this heals :(

Shit bro..sorry to hear that..get well soon. And yea just puree the food until you can get back to 100 percent its not too bad bro

I felt something like that once, but it turned out to be an upper impacted wisdom toof..

i've got the same thing going on right now, bro. it happened about a month ago and the pain is still there, though not as bad as before. i don't think it's a muscle pull. everytime i try to shut my mouth i hear a popping, it's more like the joint is popping out of place. i have no idea what to do to heal it.

Yep, sounds like TMJ. I had this for over a year (job stress and gum chewing) and it was a beotch to cure. Ibuprofen works for the inflamation and massage of the sternocleidomastoid muscle should work it out. You can do it yourself.

Look up the muscle on an anatomy chart. Its the neck muscle that stretches from below your ear to attach at the top of the sternum, there are two of them on each side of your neck; massage the one that attaches closest to your throat on the side that hurts. You should be able to push it inward very easily, but when you have TMJ, it will feel tight as a bowstring.

Hope this helps.

Anti E's and Anti corts can definitely make you more prone to jaw popping. Not sure if you're running any of those.

yep mine now going on nearly two years now since hospital removed an awkward wisdom tooth, jaw pops which doesnt realy bother me but pains only just bearable in the base of skull and up to temple are very tight/tense my chiros onto it now as doctors just wanted to give me drugs , chiro taught me the massage bit and some jaw/neck stretches but shit the pain if i try and train delts/traps!! just trying to work around it ,thought i was the only one although a friend of mine swears by haveing shots in the jaw muscle i just cant afford them! hope you fare better than me but yeah try going chiro is my only suggestion mate.
