Help, my shoulder!

Alright, I was doing bench and was in a hurry to put alot of weight on. My second warm up set I went from 135 to 315. Right when I got it up off the rack I felt a sharp piercing pain in my left shoulder (I did the rep anyway). Today I can hardly move my left arm. Obviously I fu**** up, I didnt warm up properly and thats why this happen.. Does anyone have any experience with this injury? How long does this take to heal? I can pinpoint the pain right where the collar bone meets the shoulder blade.
Thanks guys, I appreciate any input.

hmm...

Did something along the same line some time ago. If it hurts to PUSH something it might be your supraspinatus (spelling?). Part of the rotary cuff. Sounds like a partial tear. Might take a few good weeks to heal but the good news is you can still do a bunch of exercises that dont hurt too much, and legs, abs, of course. Whatever it is I hope its over quick.

Nobody on an internet forum is going to be able to diagnose your injury. Treat it with ice/rest/ibuprofen like any other injury and wait it out a little. If it persists, I'd get in to see a doctor. I can tell you from experience, shoulder issues are nothing to mess around with.

Agree.

There's no way to give a disgnosis over the internet.

Ice, rest, advil and some light stretching.. It could be anything from a small strain to a partial tear.

I have felt that same feeling a few times when i use dumbells are arent very strict on my form.

Speaking from experience (2 shoulder surgeries), take an extra 5-7 minutes to warm up and stretch your shoulders. Almost every training day I will do some wall stretches, a rotator cuff exercise and 2 sets on a machine to get everything warmed up. It takes 5 minutes and I have yet to injure myself since doing this.

Dont mess around with your shoulders. I now have 6 screws in my left shoulder holding it together because i didnt take the time to get it properly healed after my first injury (Not bodybuilding related). Go get an MRI and see EXACTLY what is wrong. More than likely it is just a slight tear or a sprain of the rotator cuff but you never know. Plus a rotator cuff injury takes a while to heal. Please do the right thing and go get it properly diagnosed. You will regret it later on in life if you dont.

Thanks, I think you nailed it. I was able to do high pulls and lat pulldowns with no pain.

Thanks, I'm getting an MRI today. I'll lay off for a while. I've torn my acl twice (football) for being ignorant so I agree with the suggestions to rest. Thanks again

Mike-Dont forget to post the results of your MRI to help others in the future:)

Yes it does sound like a rotator cuff strain. Can get worse if not seen to and properly diagnosed. But might not be a full tear just a bad strain. I have done the same to both my old fucked up shoulders in the past. Back off and let it heal........once you get proper medical advice!!!:)
