Help with fathers blood work

Good afternoon gents. I am looking for some opinions and possible answers on this subject. My dad has had some wacked out white blood cell counts for a long while now. At least 5 years. He was sent to a hematologist and they ran specialty test to check for blood cancers.

I dont have which tests were done and what the details were but everything came back negative. For context he is staying on top of this with his doctor and whatever specialist he has been seeing. I dont know all the details but here is what I have.

WBC 1.8 RANGE 4.0-11.0
RBC 4.03 RANGE 4.50-6.00
HEMOGLOBIN 135 RANGE 135-175
HEMATOCRIT .0399 RANGE 135-175
MCV 99 RANGE 80-100
MCH 33.5 RANGE 27.5-33.0
RDW 12.0 RANGE 11.5-14.5
PLATELET COUNT 220 RANGE 150-400

NEUTROPHILS .4 RANGE 2.0-7.5
LYMPHOCYTES .9 RANGE 1.0-3.5
MONOCYTES .3 RANGE .2-1.0
EOSINIOPHILS .1 RANGE 0-.5
BASOPHILS 0
IMMATURE GRANULOCTES 0
NUCLEATED RBC 0

basically it is the neutrophils that seem to be chronically low and have been for quite a long time now.

Any suggestions or anything that i can shoot his way would be appreciated. Thanks fellas.

May i ask what your father's age is?

I have chronically low WBC and neutrophil as well. All my life. It freaked me out at one point but I also was checked for everything from HIV to lymphoma. All negative.

Does your father have symptoms or get sick often? I never did and rarely get sick. In the end they chalked it up to just some people living on the high end, some on the low end and most in the "normal". That was 20yrs ago.

So before 5 years ago, before the dark time, his WBC was normal? What changed or happened? By lab numbers he is now immunocompromised. There were some experimental shots going on around that time that has caused similar issues in MANY other people. I have not heard of any solutions for those people.

I will have to ask him to confirm, but im almost certain his WBC was low before the jabby jab.

spoke with mom today. She is saying he is more tired than usual. Napping more.

Has your father ran any autoimmune markers such as an ANA panel? These markers can often indicate Lupus or RA. It could also be issues with his spleen potentially, but they likely would have found that by now or he would have worsened symptoms.

If it’s not causing symptoms or a poor lifestyle then I wouldn’t go out of my way chasing ghost. That could lead to medications that actually inflict side effects. That’s just my opinion though as I’ve seen a lot of people create more problems by trying to chase down answers.

You could look at baseline things such as mineral status, vitamin d, retinol etc to rule out foundational things.

the hematologist ran all this stuff with all negative results. Last thing to do is a bone marrow sample. Not sure if he wants to do that though.

The absence of cancer cells in classic screening does not rule out bone marrow diseases, especially such as:
- Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) - very likely with these results.
- Bone marrow aplasia
- Viral bone marrow damage
- Toxic myelosuppression

Additionally, what is his level of b12, phlyic acid, iron and ferritin?

Feel free to DM me his full bloodwork. I’d be curious to see the full picture and mineral status numbers. Especially things like Iron markers as Luki mentioned above.

My mind went to bone marrow suppression as well. Certain medications can cause this, but the list is short. OP, I would have him look into a little deeper screening regarding this as well.

Had a buddy with an overactive spleen that caused similar blood work.

I will check into it. Hes not on any meds.

Should I encourage him to get the bone marrow biopsy?

I also need to get the numbers for his ferritin b12 and the other minerals you guys mentioned.

Ok, stupid, I dont see any tests for iron, ferritin or phylic acid.

his b12 was low normal.

He is doing more bloods today to recheck CBC WBC and all the minerals.

Bone marrow biopsy booked for July 15.

@luki7788 @bbxtreme

should he proceed with the biopsy? My only concern is the latest research showing how biopsies can actually "spread" or trigger malignancies.

he had a CT abdomen scan done last year. Spleen and liver were unremarkable, no follow up required on those organs.

@bbxtreme @luki7788 my dad got another round of bloods done. Here are the notable results.

WBC 2.8 range 4.0-11.0
RBC 4.00 range 4.50-6.00
Hematocrit .3999 range .400 - .5000
MCH 34.0 range 27.5-33

neutrophils 1.5 range 2.0- 7.5 (this is up from .4)
lymphocytes .9 range 1.0-3.5

iron 15.4 range 10.6-33.8 umol/L
b12 309 range >200 pmol/L
Transferrin 2.72 range 2.00 - 3.30 G/L
TIBC 68 range 50-83 umol/L
transferrin saturation .23 range .13- .50

no lupus.

Should he still look to get the bone marrow biopsy?
