Hematocrit. Does it really worth?

For what it's worth I take astragalus and have used it on/off with tests. Great on improving creatinine and resulting egfr (cystatin c is rock solid always) but I've never once seen it matter to my rbc or crit.
Yeah I'm aware, for me I just need to eliminate anything even remotely possible
all the data on mice or people with anemia or kidney disease.

But it can stimulate bone marrow hematopoiesis (blood formation).

That alone causes me pause, but my circumstance is probably different than yours, I came a little too close this last go around....

I'm gonna remove the NAC, I'll find another way to keep the liver healthy, curious if it moves the needle 🤔
I also removed it after stumbling upon that small study. There isn’t great evidence on NAC raising hematocrit but that is enough for me to stop and see if it lowers mine. I am curious if your numbers move in the right direction after stopping as well.

I'm gonna wait four weeks after removing both of the things I mentioned I have my blood test from the previous so I will definitely know I've been actively working and reducing things to bring it to where it is so I'm super cognizant of it... I for sure will post when the results come back

I used to not believe it and let my hematocrit stay around 51.5% for months since my BP and HR were normal, until I did my first blood donation. I couldn’t believe how much better I felt and how many sides went away. I felt 20 lbs lighter, stopped feeling thirsty and overhydrated at the same time, and slept better. Now I donate blood every 3 months.
Watch your ferritin. Mine went very low when I used to donate a lot

For whatever it’s worth… NAC has never made a difference in my blood work in regards to hematocrit. I generally take 600mg-1200mg a day, had removed it for a 3-4 month period and had the exact same hema readings at the next set of bloods.

Oddly enough, I recently posted my best bloodwork in a very long time on .5-1mg weekly Reta and the same NAC dosing as above. First time in years my Hematocrit was just a bit outside of range. Both are said to raise blood levels but those were my recent results. Trt only…. Dosing never really changes. Test C 10-20mg daily just depending on the time of year.

Reta flat lines me emotionally… like in a hugely noticeable way and just really don’t like the way I look on it but the blood work improvements make it hard to not want to include it in. I stay very lean year round so it’s not a necessity for that purpose and I really can’t run it any lower.

That said, came off it about 2 months back and within 3 weeks looked like I was in a post show rebound… big, full, round and lean. It seems to soften my physique for some reason… hard to explain. I also have to substantially increase calories to avoid losing weight. After 25+ years of eating like a machine… not really something I care to do at this point as keeping digestion healthy is already a chore.

Such a strange drug… on one hand, it’s hard to justify not keeping it in w the quite incredible effects on my bloodwork, on the other, I dislike the way I look and feel on it.

Im here to say again that I believe 99% of my problems are related to erythrocytosis. For those who think having an elevated rbc, hemoglobin, or hematocrit, higher than what concerns most drs, pretending like its okay because your platelets are low are being foolish. Theres more than one reason to experience erythrocytosis and just high rbcs aren't the only factor. Plasma levels, and hydration also matter. Dont pretend that that 60 hematocrit that only lasted a week didn't do damage. Im just as guilty but the rampant addition to steroids that clouds the people minds around here is crazy!

Wut ? having a hematocrit of 60 one week does damage ? how ?

fear mongering creates anxiety elevation. high anxiety raises blood pressure. high blood pressure combined with viscous blood is reeking hell. i'm just being a dick right now
Like im all for damage mitigation but we need to be both realistic and bound in reality :ROFLMAO:
