I also had a UH which was repaired a few months back. Been lifting for about two months now since and back near the weights I was pushing before it happened.

I had surgery on my umbilical hernia a few years ago...
Remember this: Ask the surgeon to put the "mesh" under the muscle NOT between the muscle and the skin...if the Mess is under the muscle it will not re-herniate around the mess...which is what happened to me. The first surgery they placed the mesh above the muscle...bad idea.:banghead:

Lifting heavy and genetics play a part in hernias.. If the hernia gets large enough it will kill the protuding area by twisting and cutting off the blood supply..

Is there a way to keep these from getting worse or preventing them. Would a belt help. I recently noticed that my naval popped out which I didn't even realize. I showed it to a doctor who said as long as it doesn't hurt that its okay.
