HGH: Your Guide to Optimal Use, Protocol, and Benefits

Have you experienced any sides with the HGH? I have trigger finger and elevated fasted glucose levels. I started taking 1000 mg of Metformin but still having the elevated glucose levels. I also lowered my dose to try and get rid of the trigger finger but it still won't go away. I forgot to mention I'm also on 180mg of test cypionate and 500 iu's of HCG split twice a week plus the 400mcg of PEG-MGF 3 times a week. Any insights on getting this under control would be appreciated, I am seeing great results but with these concerning sides.
Not trigger finger but the perceived carpal tunnel symptoms which is the edema. Blood glucose is fine since on Berberine with meals three times a day and on Tirz low-dose. Also, take HCG and PEG.

How was your BG that made you jump to 1k Metformin? Careful with altered bowel habit with Metformin. BG 88 and A1C 5.3 seems good to go.

Berberine I take 1000mg daily split between 3 capsules with meals.

trigger finger could also be caused by something actually preventing that tendon from sliding freely, i just had trigger finger surgery on the middle finger, now it is "freed up" and no more trigger finger,, i had cts surgery in 2024 and after that my "trigger finger" appeared, strange tbh, but now its done and feels alot better all things considered,, stitches come out in 2 days,,
Glad you're feeling better brother and stitches coming out. Is the site less swollen and fully closed and not red?

i poked that puss looking part with a needle, it is not pus, lol just tissue, it seems to be doing good , not painful and red,, how you like those fancystiches, lmao there not unraveling,,

Trigger finger is usually related to tendon rubbing against the tendon sheath. Can be due to a narrow tendon sheath. I doubt GH can cause trigger finger, but theoretically could exacerbate it if the sheath is narrowed I'm assuming d/t the increased fluid retention.

i didn't get trigger finger from hgh ,

Oh, I wasn't assuming you did or thought that you did. I was just giving some clarification because it seems like sometimes other people think that it causes those types of things for some reason! I have one too on my right ring finger that's been there for a couple of years and just has gotten a little worse when I increased the GH dose.

Hgh gave me trigger finger. Only after I included insulin though. I had mild cts at 5iu daily. I bumped my dose to 8iu daily with 10iu insulin and within weeks i got trigger finger. Only acts up at night though. Crazy feeling having your hand feel so swollen and when you close it your fingers lock into place.
I just deal with it.

Hey, just signed up in here as I’m looking to get some honest responses on how best to go about starting HGH as a 50 yo who’s been weight training since my 20s but now finding i’m not only not happy with where i’m out physically but also nursing shoulder pain. I’d like to add some extra muscle and had heard HGH could help in that department whilst improving my sleep. Can anyone provide some feedback on their experience with HGH. Thanks

HGH can definitely touch most of the things you mentioned, especially for guys in their late 40s–50s whose natural GH levels tend to be lower than in their 20s.

1. HGH and muscle / body recomposition at 50
HGH on its own isn’t a pure “mass builder” like high-dose test, but it’s a very good body recomposition tool:

  • Helps increase lean muscle mass over time, especially when combined with proper training and protein
  • Improves fat distribution and tends to slowly lower body fat (particularly around the midsection)
  • You might see a bit of water retention at first, but with a sensible diet (low junk/high whole foods, moderate sodium) it’s usually manageable
So think leaner, tighter, fuller rather than 10 kg of mass in 8 weeks.

2. HGH and sleep / recovery
For many people (especially over 40–50), HGH:

  • Can improve sleep quality, depth, and recovery – particularly if baseline GH/IGF-1 is on the low side
  • Often leaves you feeling better recovered between sessions, with less of that “beat up” feeling that creeps in as we age

A lot of users report more consistent sleep patterns and waking up feeling less trashed.

3. HGH and joint / soft-tissue issues
There’s vast clinical (and anecdotal) support that HGH can:

  • Help with tendon and connective tissue recovery
  • Shorten the recovery time from some orthopedic issues and nagging injuries
  • Improve general joint comfort for some users, especially when paired with smart rehab and not just “pin and push through pain”

Obviously it’s not a magic fix for a damaged shoulder, but it can be one piece of the healing + training smarter puzzle.

Big picture: for a 50-year-old who lifts, HGH is usually more about:

  • Better body composition (leaner and more muscular)
  • Improved recovery, sleep and energy
  • Support for tissue repair, within reason

Just keep in mind the usual caveats: it’s still a hormone with real risks (blood sugar, fluid retention, etc.), and it’s best approached with bloodwork and medical supervision rather than guessing.

If you want a deeper dive on how HGH actually burns fat and affects body composition, I put together few comprehensive breakdowns here:
