High BUN & Creatinine

I recently got blood work done and both were high. BUN is at 31 and its supposed to be within a range of 6-20. Creatinine is 1.35 in a range of .76-1.27.

I know that its normal for bbers to have higher levels of these because of the amount of protein we eat but are my numbers high enough to be a concern?

Creatinine is fine for someone with a lot of mass.

Your BUN probably means you are breaking down too much protein. Don't eat more protein than Dorian Yates ate if you aren't that size is what I keep telling myself. Or you could be dieting in which case breaking down protein is hard to avoid (still I think your BUN could be lower...).

Or you could just be dehydrated.

Im eating a lot of protein (8oz meat per meal) but i was dehydrated at the time of the test.....i remember the nurse said my blood was coming out slowly cuz im dehydrated so i guess thats it...thx fof the reply bro.

I consistently test high on both (not significantly). Kala is dead on.

I had similar numbers for some blood work I had done a while back... but I trained the night before, was relatively dehydrated, and TOTALLY freaked out. My doc told me to take a couple days off from the gym, and stay hydrated and re-test. I took the weekend off from the gym, drank as much water as I should, and my numbers dropped to the lower end of the normal ranges. I wouldn't freak out yet, but definately keep those things in mind when giving blood. Good luck bro!

Also... Keep in mind ANY creatine supplementation will drastically increase your creatinin reading... so eliminate creatine and you'll see a drop as well

those numbers are not high at all. i would drop creatine just because,,,it doesnt really do much and can be bad for your kidneys in the long run.

I just got my results back too. My BUN is 30, ALT is 80. I worked out heavy the day before and eat/drink 300+ grams of protein/day. The doc said we'll check them again in a month and the lifting/protein are the likely causes of the high readings. She wasn't too concerned after I explained what was going on...
