high hematocrit

i am 41 years old and donated blood for the first time-i dont have medical insurance so i very rarely go to the doctor-anyways my hematocrit was 58 when they checked my blood-from being on here i see this number is pretty damn high-i was told i can donate blood again in about 2 months-what else can i do to lower my level-do any supplements help ?

Reduce the amount of ASS and start doing cardio everyday. After a few months you should see that number drop.

If they checked your hemoglobin and used the 3x formula to find hematocrit it may not be that high. My hematocrit is very consistantly 3x+2 what my hemoglobin is. But even if you are 56 that is still way too high, get on the cardio, stay hydrated, and donate again at your first opportunity.

where do you donate that they check you're crit,usually its globin and that times 3 is crit, unless you did the math?

but yeah, that's high, altho i just started seeing an endo that's well versed in all this and he says they aren't really convinced high crits cause clots,thinks it's more a hereditary based thing, but better to be safe than sorry
