That’s most likely because most younger guys don’t do bloodwork . I was guilty of that too ,I just started doing bloodwork about 7-8 years ago. I actually started donating after reading your posts about high hemoglobin/hematocrit

That is one factor I hadn't taken into account! A lot of young guys probably don't even do a CBC to check it out. Im not sure if most family doctors do a CBC every year for young guys. I know once I got to be in my mid 30s they started to.

PCP's should do annual blood work for all their patients, but it seems to be less common practice, though they are taught to do this in medical school. They would probably be able to prevent some problems later in life for many individuals if they would just order a simple CBC and metabolic panel.
