High Iron in bloods?

Are high iron results in bloods cause for donation? I’m at 252 ng/dL for iron and 66% iron saturation. It’s high for sure but this is a result of high test and primo. Automatically cause for donation or am I just going to make myself anemic if I do? Hematocrit is 51%. Thoughts and comments appreciated bros

Honestly, it's impossible to say whether you should donate blood based on these data. Just an iron level of 252 and a transferrin saturation of 66% are indeed high values. Transferrin saturation above 50% is considered elevated and requires a broader interpretation.
The problem is that you didn't provide the most important information ferritin, hemoglobin, RBC, TIBC/transferrin, whether the test was fasting, are you take iron supplements, how long you've been on your current cycle.
A hematocrit of 51% alone doesn't automatically mean you need to donate blood. For many people on test such a level is not unusual.

Secondly, donating blood isn't a cure-all for every abnormal iron result. If the problem is true iron overload, this might make sense, but if you already have low or moderate ferritin, you could actually worsen the situation and develop iron deficiency despite a high hematocrit.

Furthermore, a single serum iron result often doesn't mean much on its own. Iron levels can fluctuate significantly depending on the time of day, meals, supplementation, and even what you ate the day before. That's why it's important to look at the entire iron panel, not just iron and saturation.

Do you take an iron supplement?

Do you take an iron supplement?
Question about this…I usually take a multi without iron but I ran out a few weeks ago and have a huge bottle of Costco multi vitamins that contain 100% dv of iron. Is this bad for people with our lifestyle?

Diet isn’t huge in iron but probably normal for a recreational bb so potentially higher than most. Trt guy mostly…

What are all your other numbers like? RBC, HCT, Ferritin
If my iron is high i donate as it has been linked to shorter longevity.
I only take iron supps for a week after donating unless i am eating a fair amount of red eat as that iron is pretty bioavailable as i remember.

Are you eating a lot of orange box cream of rice? Most my clients that is the easiest fix. Using olmasartan also fixed all hematology problems I used to have

Depends are your iron levels normal then then doesnt matter are they already in the high end then there is simply no reason, dont mess with it if its already workin for ya.

Seems like you may be a “super absorber”.

My wife does NOT absorb iron. Has to have an infusion every couple of years. So there was a lot of talk about iron around the dinner table.

After infusion, iron (ferritin) can be like 300 and when it gets below 100 she starts to feel it and then she gets a fill-up. And once a month she gets it tested. She has this all graphed out. The rise and fall of the Iron Empire 🙂

When it is all said and done you may have to see a hematologist.

I have hemochromatosis and high iron was sneaky and hit hard, almost made my liver retire when I was 31. You have “ keep an eye on it numbers” from my very unprofessional but experienced point of view. If you want a true picture of whats going on then avoid donating blood and get your iron, and all that goes with it checked at regular intervals. Nothing wrong with blood donation, but in this case you want to see if your levels are to remain stable or will elevate.
BTW I have never heard that test or any other substance we may take for muscle growth to cause elevated iron and I’ve always been totally honest with my doctors, especially when we were discussing changing out my high mileage organs for newer, gently used organs. It may absolutely be a thing I just didn’t know about it.
Best of luck to you.
