For the last few months I was running torso/limbs split and I really enjoyed it and I'm progressing every session, but some time ago I started watching a lot of Old Jay cutler videos, Justin Compton and people who just trained High volume and lower frequency(once a week for body part), I really want to try the high volume and low frequency approach and I just wanted to ask if someone had the same situation and switched from high frequency lower volume to high volume and lower frequency, I know JP talks a lot about that frequency is the key factor to build as much muscle as possible but is it really? If we think every freaky bodybuilder who was mass monster trained high volume and just did not care about frequency, I know they took steroids, genetics etc. but cmon, I think it's something about high volume and we don't see a lot of mass monster like this nowadays tho, Let me know what you guys think and what split everyone is running right now tho

It’s all about mechanical tension and progression. More importantly it’s about CNS recovery to accomplish that.

You can do higher volume once a week or lower volume multiple times a week. But at the end of the day if the muscle is recovering and the CNS isn’t fully then progression will stall.

Pick the style you will stick with, best recover from and roll with it.

jay Cutler years ago wrote a high volume training book. It shouldn't be too hard to find it free online. It's definitely worth checking out.

people have gotten massive doing just about every split imaginable.
there's no one best way and it's far from a settled science.

I think people are too caught on splits. Just train the bodypart when its recovered again if you're pretty in tuna with your body.

Just to add though ... why the hell would you change anything if you enjoy it AND you are progressing every session?
I wouldn't personally change a thing then.
ye thats what i was thinking last night, for now i wont change anything but in the future i will give it a try for sure

I have made progress from all types of training. Some i liked better then others. What i like is what i am likely to apply myself to the best. I think those in their early years are more likley to grow better with volume as intercity is learned over time.

It was the way everyone trained before "exercise science " and garbage studies on fat, untrained, college kids become gospel and pushed frequency as the magic bullet for clicks and profit. It absolutely works, its called the bro split. Look at steve shaw on youtube or just search "bro split" ...adherence beats "optimal " that is promoted based on flawed studies

Thank ya. I've actually changed my mind on my beloved bro split...but i still consider exercise science studies by Brad scholfield and his goofy understudies to be close to worthless lol

Ok just to play devils advocate, high frequency training pre-dates even the bro split by a long while. But I agree schoenfields studies might have… limited application when it comes to actual bodybuilders.
