Hitting a sticking point

Question for the older guys... What do you do when you plateau on a non compound movemnet (ex: squats)? Im ruising through and breaking weekly records in squats bench and deads.. But whaqt do you do when your about tapped out on things like lateral raises and such? DO you change the exercise so you can get more reps? Im getting down to like 4-5 good ones and then its just crap.. I do a 3 exercise scheme that works amazingly for me..i work every body part 2x per week.. but only a total of 3 lifts (plus warm up of course) similar to what phil is teaching im thinking.. I just started playing around with it and i like it.. It seems to work well..

I will use lateral raises since you brought them up. First thing I do is re-exmine my form. I try to make it as strict as possible and go for feel rather than weight. Second I would cut out a middle set and up the weight dramatically on the next set. Try in corporating single lateral raises instead of doubles. This allows you to use more weight. If al else fails use some cheating methods to eek out a couple of more reps.
 
sometimes ill do a deload for one workout. sometimes the sticking point is in your head too. reexamine why you cant lift anymore, is it mental? there will be a point where you cant get any stronger without changing your internal environment. meaning supps or hormones. im not encouraging you to use any aas but really think about what goes on inside of your body to make you stronger. or change exercises like DC training suggests.
