Do any of you guys have a recipe for a homemade protein bar? I know a lot of the time peanut butter is used as a mix, but I want to make something that's low in fat... any suggestions for mix?

Yeah dead simple,

1 part whey protein (vanila was best for me)
1 part organic oats
1/2 part apple pulp, (i got it from apple baby food)
1/2 part lowest fat margerine
add sweetners to taste

this is all of the top of my head (because I mixed several before finding what worked for me), by part you could use a cup, I have experimented with many different flavours, but the above works out the best, it comes out like a sweet biscuit low fat high protein good carbs.

edit: Must be me, I forgot to add that these things need to be baked, the new year is still taking it's toll!!! . I baked them until brown at 190 degrees c. While experimenting I also tried, adding honey, which makes them a little more crunchy, not good if you are avoiding sugars, I also tried apple sauce (organic) before I realised that apple pulp has far less sugar, at the end of the day the fructose in either apple sauce or apple pulp is very sweet. Once I baked these I cut them into small sized pieces and they kept well for over a week in a sealed container. My mum liked these once I gave them to her and she added something similar to her diet, but she added some sweetner that is suitable for baking and dried fruits (raisons and stuff) I also experimented using oils and fats too, and with pure casien protein instead of whey, but I would say the simpler the better stick with whey.

If you were looking for something sweet to add to your day, I made some protein mousse and placed the receipe on here, it is as simple as it comes, chocolate mrp shake sachet, vegegel sacket mixed with warm water, blend together add essential oils, sweet simple pudding. good luck if you discover some new idea let us know here. I get so bored with a plain diet.

3 1/2 cup oats
1 1/2 no fat dry milk
1 tbsp cinnamon
4 heaping scoops protien powder
4 egg whites
1/4 cup orange juice
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/4 cup lite syrup (sugar free will work if your cutting the sugar)
2 6oz packages Ocean Spray Cranberry + Chocolate Trail mix

mix all in large bowl, pour into a 9x13 pan lined parchment paper and bake at 325 for about 20 minutes or untill brown ontop. Cut into 12 bars

Trail mix can be subsituted for chopped apples, raisins, etc. The two 6oz packages are equal to 2cups

1 bar=
Calories - 344g
Fat - 10g
Carbs - 45g
Protein - 20g

Nutrition info is figured for using the egg yolk (could not find info on just the white) so the fat and calories will be slighly lower.

I found this on the food network. Any other good ones out there?

Protein Bars Recipe courtesy Alton Brown, 2005

4 ounces soy protein powder, approximately 1 cup
2 1/4 ounces oat bran, approximately 1/2 cup
2 3/4 ounces whole-wheat flour, approximately 1/2 cup
3/4-ounce wheat germ, approximately 1/4 cup
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
3 ounces raisins, approximately 1/2 cup
2 1/2 ounces dried cherries, approximately 1/2 cup
3 ounces dried blueberries, approximately 1/2 cup
2 1/2 ounces dried apricots, approximately 1/2 cup
1 (12.3-ounce) package soft silken tofu
1/2 cup unfiltered apple juice
4 ounces dark brown sugar, approximately 1/2 cup packed
2 large whole eggs, beaten
2/3 cup natural peanut butter
Canola oil, for pan

Line the bottom of a 13 by 9-inch glass baking dish with parchment paper and lightly coat with canola oil. Set aside. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the protein powder, oat bran, wheat flour, wheat germ, and salt. Set aside.

Coarsely chop the raisins, dried cherries, blueberries and apricots and place in a small bowl and set aside.

In a third mixing bowl, whisk the tofu until smooth. Add the apple juice, brown sugar, eggs, and peanut butter, 1 at a time, and whisk to combine after each addition. Add this to the protein powder mixture and stir well to combine. Fold in the dried fruit. Spread evenly in the prepared baking dish and bake in the oven for 35 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 205 degrees F. Remove from the oven and cool completely before cutting into squares. Cut into squares and store in an airtight container for up to a week.
