Hospitalized Tachycardia & Low Oxygen

Yeah, mine was dilated cardiomyopathy and it was considered idiopathic since they didnt know for sure the cause. All I know is that after I got off the steroids for about 9 or 10 months my heart was back to normal again. I was on BP meds at the time I developed it too, so my BP was considered normal. Something to do with the steroids in my case. Others on here have had a similar experience. If you have it your cause may just be what you suggest. I wasnt taking any stimulants and I was tested for sleep apnea and mine came back really minor and the doc didnt think a cpap would do much for me.

I just figured something else out. Minoxidil can cause techacardia...I just started using 15% about a month ago, had the surgery and sleep apnea. So minoxidil maybe contribute too. I know Im just hoping its something like that though and not really cardiomyopathy, but Im just trying to figure possible things that could have contributed to the incident.

Is the tacycardia still there now or did it clear up? If its cardiomyopathy it takes awhile to clear up. I cant remember how long I suffered from the fast HR but I think it went on for several months after I got off the steroids. It slows down over time so its not an overnight thing.

Getting the echo done is a good thing to do reguardless, even if it has cleared up. the onlything that is prohibitive about it is the cost unless you have health insurance and you have already hit your deductable. I think the one I got done this past April was about $3000 when it was all said and done, but I paid just 20% of it since I had already hit my deductable during that time. Oh, and the insurance company gets that price down more too since they have a contract so even if you havent hit the deductable its going to be less than that. Another thing, late in the year like this your deductable has been paid on alot since the yr is almost done and maybe you dont have much left to pay that off.

Im going in for my sleep study this week because i have low oxyen levels did the finger test one night now ive got to go in for the over night sleep evauation anything i should ask about ?

Hate to brag, but I don't have to worry about insurance right now. I probably have one of the best you can get...No referrals needed to specialist, deductibles, no cost for testing or evaluations that doctors order and low copay's $5-$10. Unlimited chiropractic and PT with no co-Pays.

So I googled several cardiologist in my area that were good and one the specializes in tacycardia called all the offices and picked who get me in within the next 2 weeks so have an appointment already within a week.:)

I feel my heart rate is still high, but just thinking about all this makes me nervous and I can feel it increase just from that.

Wow, lucky man! We have a $2000 deductable before insurance pays 1 cent. Once we spend the $2k though we have to pay 20% of the contracted amount. You have some insane coverage, the kind we used to have many many years ago but companies dont offer anymore.

Hopefully he will order an echocardiogram for you. Let us know how it turns out.

When you had your blood draw at er did they do a thyroid panel?

Yes because I have hypothyroidism, and I made sure for them to check it, which I was within normal range. I had them make sure they gave me my thyroid meds while as was there as well.

Everything came back good...Several EKG, ECG-Holter Monitor, Ecocardiogram and blood work. No issues with heart accept I have a high resting heart rate, which the specialist said is normal for some people to have as long as it goes down in evening when sleeping, which Holter monitor confirmed.

Left Ventricle was normal, but little thick 11.7mm, which doc said is still within normal and for athletes weightlifters expected to be little thicker.

Well, that is great news! Strange though that your HR is that high and they are just brushing it off as nothing. Is it still up over 100 now? It sounds from what they are saying that yours is just naturally high, so if that is the case one would think that yours has been that way all of your life. Did your heart rate just seem to get higher all the sudden or has it maybe been that way for a long long time?

My resting heart rate is around 95-100 and had most likely been that way all my life. When I sleep it dips down to just below 80.

Post surgery it was 130-140....
