I have heard for years from the guys at my gym, that hot sauce will actually speed up your metabolism. Is there any truth to this?????

For years guys would always mention that they used hot sauce on their food to not only make bland food more tolerable but also for the kick it gives your metabolism. What do you folks have to say????
 
I say yes to Tabasco Habanero!!! Red Hot, Cholula, Sriracha, and Arizona Gunslinger are good too.
 
For me, using all kinds of fresh chilies are a great way to add tons of lo-calorie, lo-sodium flavor

I have heard they boost metabolism but I have never seen a study that they actually to that in enough effect to induce weight loss. The capsaicin in chilies does trick the brain into feeling full faster than eating bland foods do.

I like Franks Red Hot personally. The prob I have with hot sauce is the sodium. Like 200mg per tsp. I bloat like a pig so, it sucks because I like to saturate chicken with it.

the stuff is delicious, but i tend to stay away since it has trace amounts of trans fats, and if i use the stuff like i would like to use the stuff, those trace amounts wouldnt be so trace anymore :D
 
I wouldn't dream of eating a chicken breast without tabasco....... nothing worse than bland old chicken...... unless you marinade it!
 
I put hot sauce on everything. pizza, spaghetti, eggs with ground beef. Makes me forget the diet im on lol

I eat plenty of Red Hot,,,so hopefully that holds some truth:rolleyes:
