Thinking about competing after HS just wondering what your thoughts are...:p
age:17
weight:180
height:5'9

Lifts:
Deadlift: 435X1
squat: 365X1 (to parallel)
Bench: 235x1(probably my weakest lift)
clean: 225x1
push-press 195x3

This is also my first post, although Ive been lurking for awhile :p . I look forward to your input :)

your lifts look pretty impressive to me, especially at 180 pounds. your deadlift is awesome. if i were you i'd definately start competing. at least do a few meets so you can feel the atmosphere. you get that bench and squat up and you'll be doin' great bro.

thanks...

thanks man...that means alot coming from the one and only ironfreak. Ive seen some of your vids over at alinboard, your an animal bro...:) . Im thinking about competing after wrestling season next year, that way my weight will be down but my strength will be the pretty much the same. Lucky for me my football coach/wrestling coach is a huge advocate of powerlifting and Olympic lifts so its gonna be a fun summer.

impressive to me, powercleans are my favorite lift, and also my weakest.

ya ever since I was introduced to cleans a year ago it was love at first lift so to speak:D . Nothing has helped my explosiveness for sports more than cleans.

i do them about once a month to help for football. sure is a lot of freakin technique though lol

ya technique is huge with cleans. Our football coach/strength coach just introduced them to our team and its great watching kids just starting out and doing like 95lbsx5 then a month later when they get their form straight their doing 185 for reps :p

LOL that's exactly what happened with me. I started with 95 a while ago, now I'm at 185.

Seems like overall pretty balanced lifts. Tell me more about the techniques and training scheme that you use. I am curious why your squat is so low compared to your deads so telling me more COULD help balance those out.

Update*
weight:195
Lifts
Deadlift: 455X1
squat: 405X1 (to parallel)
Bench: 255x1
clean: 240x1
leg press:910X4(all the way down)

Well I do mostly Power lifting and other explosive lifts for wrestling/football, also try to do some HIT once a week. As for my low squat, perhaps it is because my back is pretty built up from wrestling which may offset my weak squat. Also I don't have as much flexibility on my squat as Id like, and its tough to go past parallel. Recently Ive started work in a leg press to help balance my quads with my stronger hamstrings and thats helped a good bit.

Looks great............nice improvements!

are you overtraining upper body and your bench?
That could be keeping it low

no Im not one of those guys that do bench and arms every time they lift :p... Last summer I injured my wrist and was unable to bench for like 2 months and had to play catch up when I started benching again...
