How are you currently managing your food?

I guess I'm just wondering how everyone else is doing things these days.
I have an hour in the morning where I listen to podcasts, drink coffee and prep my food for the day. It's certainly not optimal, I could prep it for 3-4 days in advance. But it works for me, I've been doing it for over three years straight now.

And about the chicken disenfection thing ... that's more a case for a psychologist man xD I never had any kind of food poisoning from my own food, and I never disinfect anything in my kitchen. I don't even use soap on my cutting boards, I just scrub them with water and let them dry in the air.

I must be in the minority I've never done meal prep. Haven't cooked a chicken breast in 20 years. I just buy bags of beef and chicken fajitas from Sam's club and microwave them. Sure its more processed than buying raw chicken breast but the macorosare basically the same.

Pros
0 time to cook
Taste better imo

Cons
More processed

But i weigh and track everything, eat salmon, eggs, fajitas, beef liver, sardines, fruit, yogurt, spinach, avocado , whey.

I honestly don't think if I switched from fajitas to raw chicken and steak cooked id be bigger, leaner or healthier so imo the benefits are minute.

For the paranoia about germs, look into CBT exposure therapy. You can do it yourself, it's uncomfortable, but it works.

I’m currently managing my food based on what I feel like carrying home from the store in my Man Purse when I go to the store.

Do actually like those protein bars? I never could stand the taste or texture of any of them. Aside from having a decent clip of protein they just have too much fat/sugar in em for me.

H-E-B is the best grocery store I have ever been to. I go buy everything on Saturday, and cook meat Sunday. I make rice every other day, and cook my breakfast daily. Cooking the meat Sunday gets old and I have thought about going with a meal prep service.

I only like a Brussel sprouts, and asparagus so I mainly drink a greens drink for vegetables. This saves some time, but it would probably be better to eat whole veggies.

Every night before I go to bed I weigh out the next days meals and put the in containers. This way all I have to do is heat them while working. This is the only way I can maintain a consistent diet, even though I work from home I don't have the time to cook daily.

6 days a week, something like this, and Sundays are anything goes. Crushed an entire dish of the lady's chicken parm last weekend.

Mornings: OWYN shake, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, and an avocado

Mid-Morning: I've been eating these new bars the wife has been buying, IQbars, they're delicious, at least in my opinion.

Lunch: OWYN shake or 5-6 eggwhites mixed with peppers and hot sauce.

Mid-Afternoon: IQ bar or sweet potato.

Dinner: COD or Salmon (2-3 filets), Jasmine rice, and kale salad.

Have you ever tried the ground chicken breast at H-E-B? I expected it to be dry and awful, but it's surprisingly palatable. Very cheap as well.

That doesn't seem like very much food? Are you cutting?

No but I will check it out. I like ground meats for how easy they are to cook, but I haven't seen the chicken. Thanks for the tip I will try it this week.

Let me fill you guys in on a secret. Shoutout to @Gunsmith for the recipe:

  • 5 pounds chicken breast, cut into big chunks (like literally just cut them into thirds or whatever)
  • 1 jar of pepperoncini peppers
  • 2 packets McCormick Au Jus
  • 2 TBS ranch seasoning
Put all that shit straight into a pressure cooker for 45 mins (or crock pot on high for 4 hours)

Boom. The most tender, juicy, flavorful chicken to put over your carb of choice. Sauce it/season the finished product however you want. I mix it up with either Franks, SF Sweet Baby Rays, Kinder's Butter Steak seasoning, or A1.

I do a batch every week. Never gets old. And it takes less than 5 minutes to put everything in the pressure cooker.

Do you shred the chicken into all the liquid that was created it just pull the chunks/breasts out of it when done

I usually prep 2 different protein sources/ meats every 2-4 days. Chicken requires marinade so the breasts stay tender and flavorful, so I do have to plan a bit. But I keep lots of easy to make veggies, cream of rice, rice cakes, egg whites and cottage cheese that I’ve learned to make in literally 30 different ways…. Never boring to eat, and enough variety to not go nuts, or feel like I’m missing out. Hell, I create high protein desserts sometimes that taste as good as the “real” deal- all it takes is some ingenuity and creativity.

I hate the texture of cottage cheese...so I dump it in a bowl and use an emersion blender thingy to make it smooth.

Otherwise it is too close to a vomit texture....
