How dangerous is high cholesterol really?

I was a biochem major in college ..There is no real evidence of cholesterol being a factor in cardio disease ...51% of heart attacks come from people with good cholesterol. Heart attacks are growing even though we have meds to effectively lower cholesterol ....
This has been an on going feud with scientists for 15 years ..One side says cholesterol is a non factor and they are demonized for obvious reasons .. The other are Drs/drug dealers to a billion dollar industry ...

That interesting. So what are you saying?

As usual a guy saying nonsense without facts. The only thing true about that is dietary cholesterol. There is quite a few studies on this.

Run a 15 HDL and 185 LDL and check back with us in 20-25 years to let us know how things are working out for you.

My latest cholesterol reading is

61.48 HDL
150.8 LDL
23.3 triglycerides

Damn.. how do I get to 80 LDL, need to blast more fibre and omegas 3

Old bump BUT wanted to share that those values are (dare I say) EXCELLENT.

Your Triglyceride/HDL level is VERY GOOD and points to great CVD health as well as insulin sensitivity.

Should be <2 and when <1 you’re doing very well. Yours is 0.38!

Your LDL-C levels are just fine and unless it’s oxidized are not a problem at all. Given the fact your metabolic health (indicated by your insulin sensitivity value of Tri/HDL) corroborates this.

LDL-C is not at all the boogey man it’s been vilified to be. Actually, conversely, it’s loaded with health benefits.

thanks for the bump. My latest bloods

Triglyceride0.79mmol/L
Cholesterol5.35mmol/L
HDL Cholesterol1.47mmol/L
New formulation (24/Sep/2018): In some patients
with abnormal liver function, the HDL-c result
may be different due to the presence of
lipoproteins with abnormal lipid distribution.
Non HDL Cholesterol3.88mmol/L
Non HDL-Cholesterol is not affected by the
fasting status of the patient.
LDL Cholesterol (Calculated)3.52mmol/L
Consider the non HDL-C value as an alternate
lipid target if monitoring treatment in
intermediate or high risk patients.
Cholesterol/HDL Cholesterol3.6
