How do you guys do BB rows?

Angle of upper body during BB Rows?

I do them at almost 90 degrees (almost parallel to the ground) - I can't go as heavy as if i'm at 45 degrees but for some reason when I'm at 45 degrees I always end up straining my lower back - if I lighten up the weight and bend over more I still reach failure with my lats but never feel any pain in my lower back

I've been lifting for 26 years + which means absolutely nothing. But i devote one whole work out to back. I try to hit it from every conceivable angle possible. But I do prefer yates style. the underhand grip allows you to pull the bar back further than the overhand grip does making for a greater contraction.

More of a DB row type of guy myself. Less lower back strain.

A gem that's hidden in that video towards the end from Dorian is, You want your hands to be about at your knees when you do them.

i think that video shows just how much more dorian was switched on in his training than other pro's.

if you watch blood and guts in his prime i think he uses 4plates a side with text book form rows. kai was using nothing like that and blew out at 5 reps.

i think these videos are good at highlighting that a lot of professional bodybuilders are not that strict in there training when they try to go heavy

I was camping this past weekend and made do with the playground equipment in the park near our site. So, I was on my back grabbing a bar above me while my toes gripped the other side of the apparatus. I looked ridiculous, but actually got a great workout. I always liked those bodyweight rows like that and felt they hit the muscles really well, just wish I could up the weight safely.

I know that's off topic kinda, but they are an overlooked exercise that can do in a pinch. I pretty much do all my rows and chin movements with a neutral grip these days to minimize shoulder damage. So, anything that allows for that and I'm good.
