Okay so i decided to give myself a few months off til i complete college. I work Full time (+overtime) and go to college 40+ hours a week blah blah blah everyone works there ass off nowadays.
so anyway,
I usually do 3 on 1 to 2 days off depending how sore, good i feel. I cant keep up with things as it is now and i can only really hit it hard maybe once or twice a week, i try to force myself but everyone who does that knows the feeling. You WANTED to go to the gym, but when you get there you lose all motivation.
I lack sleep and cannot keep up with proper nutrition at the moment due to my circumstances.
It has been around 5 months doing this and i still have another 3 months til i graduate.
Now i have posted a question like this before but i am just wondering after working so hard over the years for the body you want , how far will you let yourself go ?
I am asking because i would like to know how everyone else goes about something like this and how they would cope with it.

I won't let myself go at all.
Being in this condition makes me happy and I like being happy ;)

Seriously in 25 years the longest I have taken off is 2 weeks.
If you are stressed or cannot motivate yourself, back off a bit, but don't drop out. Exercise can be a great stress reliever - it should not be adding stress.

From someone who just completed a 21 unit semester with 7 As, and one other grade I rather not talk about, I know your pain. My advice, when you don't have the time to train, train DC. When you don't have the time to make your meals, pack lots of fruit and lots of protein powder. Do not let yourself go, it only makes things worse.

I usually take two months a year off. Sometimes its just a lack of motivation after meeting a goal and sometimes injuries require it.

Prioritize and Optimize

I would prioritize my time which I am sure you have and fit in what I could. Find ways to be more efficient with your training and diet. I would also look at the additional recovery time you have as a plus. I prepared for my first show while working full-time, commuting none the less, and going to school at night. Sleep came at a premium for sure. If I were you I would look into training styles that provided the most bang for the time you have (i.e. DC, Push/Pull, Full Body, 5X5. etc.) Some of these stress the body and you would benefit from the additonal recovery time. For meals why not have utilize MRPs when strapped for time? Trueprotein can custom make you an MRP and you just put it into shaker cups. OR Do as I did and perpare all your meat at one time, chop it up, and weigh it into bags. I also actually did a lot of my training at school with time permitted. If you have to drive any distance to your gym, maybe find one closer for a couple months. I am rambling, but you get the point. I would not stop training, but I would just find ways to make my time more efficient.

These guys pretty much said it all. I'd also add in that when I was in that situation in college I was only able to train twice a week. I got stronger and bigger faster in that time frame than I ever have. Use it your benefit. MRP's and quick heavy workouts. DC style.

thanks for all the advice and input, i tried the DC style training before and loved it. Im thinking ill have to start it again and see how it goes this time around.
I have not used MRP's before but i will have to look into them. I dont want to give up my gains and hardwork so im going to do my best to hit it hard when i can and do my best to try to fit in proper meals and nutrition
thanks again for all the help and info guys:headbang:

One month

Most I could go would be one month before I go crazy! Lifting keeps my head and body in check. Otherwise who knows what would happen...hahah. Being an athlete my whole life I have found myself needing to be active. Though I'm not in high level sports anymore, lifting gives me a channel to get that urge out of my system.

Even some of the pros take quite a bit of time off.. Ronnie Coleman takes 3months off a year.

2 weeks off and rest will make your body feel completely different. Sounds like you have your hands full with WOrk and school
