how important is SUGAR ALCHOL?

i have been eating the shit out of protein powder pancakes, and i have been using a little sugar free syrup. it says it contains 0g sugar , but 12g of sugar alchol and i am wondering if it is the same basically as sugar. if so ill just stop using it.

BTW, who here like protein pancakes? Im a huge fan, just got done eating some for breakfast, i feel like i just cheated..lol

as far as the sugar content I am not sure but would assume they are the same...but I have seen the protein pancakes in the shops where I live and they are pretty expensive for the amount that I would have to eat to call it a complete breakfast..I think the ones I saw only had like 12-15 grams of protein per..that mean I would have to eat like 5 and I am sure the box would be gone pretty fast..but what I did start doing was making my own pancakes and putting in 3 scoops of protein powder into the bowl and then mixing that in..tastes about the same..

yeah i definetly make my own pancake batter. all i use is 2 scoops vanilla whey, 2 whole eggs, 3 whites, 2 packs of splenda, a little cinnamon and mix the hell out it.

i did a little research myself and found out a couple things. it seems that they are really not that well defined. basically some people say obviously they are a calorie so they are either burnt as fule, or stored as fat. some say they dont have as high a GI as sugar. and some people say the are a lower calorie than a regular gram of carb. like 2 cals, per carb. who know, just stay away from too many of them.

I know what you mean!

I thought 1g of glycerine contains 4 calories?!?
