How long are you in the gym for?

Just curious really to see the variance between everyone on here.

Seems to be an ongoing thing where it’s who can be in and out the gym the fastest. Sam Pearce made a good post on it a while back.

For me it’s my favourite time of the day, and I look forward to it all day so I’m fooked if I’m gonna be rushing it!

Saying that, my rest periods are timed and I don’t mess around between sets, my actual training has a pace to it, but I do like getting in the gym early, properly warming up and then afterwards I’ll do a lot of stretching and some mobility.

All in all, I’m probably in the gym altogether between 2-2.5hours including all warm ups and post workout stretching/mobility.

How about you guys?

Ahh good glad it’s not just me that’s in there a while wondering if I’m doing something massively wrong hearing guys being in and out in 45 mins 😅

I’m no rich piana 8 hour arm workout but usually same as yourself 2-2.5 hours including 20 mins of cardio

2-3 hours depending on what im training and what is the topic of discussion of the day in the gym :ROFLMAO:

Lmao I didn’t wanna be the first person to admit often getting sidetracked by talking 🤣🤣

Someone will start talking to me and I’m like ffs go away then 5 minutes later realise it’s me doing all the talking and I’m like FUCK 🤣

I get in the gym sometimes 3:30-4am. I don’t really need to be in that early that’s just when I wake up so I go. Sometimes my body and brain doesn’t completely come online yet when I first get there. I’ve had days where i literally sit there dicking around for an hour and a half while I try to wake up. Some days I can get right in and be kicking ass in 15 minutes. Usually I’m in for 2-2.5 hours total though.

The vast majority of the time I will break my daily routine up into two parts so I end up doing two sessions of about 45 minutes each.

I do occasionally enjoy staying for a couple of hours but I cant do that right now, it would be impossible.

I HAVE to break it up because Im a high volume guy at this point in the hobby ( been a high volume guy for essentially 30 years, its what works for me), theres no way I could get through my workout in one shot. Oftentimes I will even break it up into several days. For example, for chest I am currently doing about 8 sets of Wide Grip Bench Press alone (not counting any incline chest presses, bar dips, close grip triceps work or flyes) and that will get up to at least 10 sets before I deload.

For you guys that are able to do 6,7,8 plus sets in one session, I dont know how you do it. My hats off to you, that is some impressive muscular endurance. My muscles become unresponsive after 4 sets.

I could do it if I dropped a few pounds but I like sticking to one weight until I can easily move it, then I add more sets or more weight.

🤔 that’s pretty much everyone other than you I’ve never heard of anyone only doing 4 sets per session lol

Be like a 10 minute workout

Thats just the pec exercises on that day. On the same day I also do hamstrings and heavy Dumbell row.

Four and a half hours three days a week.

One hour cardio
One hour stretching
One hour training a friend
One hour my workout
Thirty minutes for hot tub, and shower.

I am up at 3:30 in the morning. I’m at the gym and doing cardio by 6 AM.

he probably does 4 exercises with 1 set (maybe rest paused) to failure.

I do AM and PM sessions.

AM 45-60. PM slightly less but at least 20 mins of stepmill.

I find this much better than doing a single session for 2 reasons. 1) I definitely have more "gas in the tank" for the later exercises 2) Love the gym and it is a <10min drive for me.

2h for me

Usually 20-30 mins of cardio split before and after the lift

Then the rest of it is lifting (maybe some slight stretching thrown in as well)

Dc 2 way, 1.5 hrs 3x a week. Warm up and take my time.

1.5-2 hrs for me these days.

Ive been doing lots of 10 sets of 10reps lately. Switching it up some.

Been a nice change up

As I got stronger, the sessions got longer. Currently doing an upper lower split and the days can take up to 2 hours.
